List of PlayStation VR2 games

From VR & AR Wiki
More actions

This is a selective list of PlayStation VR2 games: virtual reality games released for Sony's PlayStation VR2 (PS VR2) headset on the PlayStation 5. It does not try to list every PS VR2 release. It covers two groups: the launch lineup that Sony Interactive Entertainment published the day before the headset went on sale on 22 February 2023, and a selection of first-party games, PS VR2 exclusives and widely covered later releases, each with a release date confirmed by the developer, the publisher, the PlayStation Store or reputable press.[1][2]

PS VR2 cannot run games made for the original PlayStation VR. Sony said the new headset's approach, which includes inside-out tracking, eye tracking, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, made PS VR games incompatible, and that cross-buy offers or upgrades from PS VR versions would be decided title by title by each developer.[2] Many entries in the launch lineup were therefore upgraded versions of earlier PS VR games, some free for existing owners and some offered as paid upgrades.[3] Games for the original headset are covered in the List of PlayStation VR games.

Reviewed 13 October 2026. Launch-list entries checked against Sony's 21 Feb 2023 PlayStation Blog list and Road to VR, and every release date, price and platform note checked against its cited source. About review dates.

Background

In its PS VR2 FAQ of 6 February 2023, Sony said that more than 30 games would be available in the launch window, including new titles and upgraded versions of existing PS VR titles, and that more than 100 titles were in development for the headset. PS VR2 games are sold digitally, with physical disc releases for selected titles. A PS VR2 game requires the headset, while some PS5 games include an optional VR mode inside the standard console version, marked as PS VR2 compatible.[2]

Sony's launch lineup grew in stages. On 19 January 2023 it said it was tracking more than 30 games for the launch window through March.[3] On 21 February 2023, the day before launch, it added 10 more titles and said the lineup had passed 40 games. The list in that post has 49 entries, and Sony noted that the final lineup could change without notice and could vary by region.[1] Sony also sold a PlayStation VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle, which included a PlayStation Store voucher code for Horizon Call of the Mountain.[2]

From 7 August 2024, the PlayStation VR2 PC adapter (estimated retail price US$59.99, EUR 59.99, GBP 49.99) let the headset run SteamVR games on a PC. Those are PC releases bought through Steam, not PS5 games, and some PS VR2 features, including HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers and haptic feedback other than rumble, are not available on PC.[4] This list covers PS5 releases only.

Launch lineup

The table below reproduces the 49 entries of Sony's launch list of 21 February 2023, with the developer or publisher named in that list. Sony marked eight entries as "launch window" titles and gave no timing label for the rest.[1] Road to VR's report of the same list grouped the unmarked entries as launch-day games for 22 February 2023 and the eight marked ones as launch-window games due "through March"; the timing column follows that split.[5] Where a release date is given in the notes, it comes from the cited source; the other dates are Sony's pre-launch plan. Upgrade and cross-buy notes are as Sony or the developer announced them.

First-party games

Two launch titles were first-party Sony games. Horizon Call of the Mountain, developed by Guerrilla Games and Firesprite, is a PS VR2 game set in the world of the Horizon series before the events of Horizon Forbidden West. It released with the headset on 22 February 2023 at US$59.99. UploadVR described it as "Sony's major launch game".[19]

Polyphony Digital added PS VR2 support to the PS5 version of Gran Turismo 7 through the free Update 1.29, which it scheduled for 21 February 2023. Every race and game mode is playable in VR except 2P Split Screen, and PS VR2 players also get a "VR Showroom" for viewing cars. The update uses the headset's eye tracking for foveated rendering and adds HDR tone mapping and 3D audio support.[12] Kazunori Yamauchi, president of Polyphony Digital, said in January 2023 that all of the game's 450+ cars could be raced in VR.[3]
