VRAR Wiki:Editorial policy

This page describes how VR & AR Wiki articles should be sourced, reviewed and corrected. It applies to hardware, software, companies, people and technical explanations, including information reused in the site's catalogs and comparisons.

Sources and factual claims

• Cite a source that directly supports each substantive claim. A long reference list does not compensate for unsupported statements.
• Use manufacturer specifications, developer documentation, release notes and original research for the facts they establish. Use independent reporting and reviews for reception and measured experience.
• Identify the product generation, platform, software version and region where these affect the claim. A specification for one device or version does not establish a specification for another.
• Separate manufacturer claims from independent measurements. Give the test conditions for battery life, latency and performance where the source provides them.
• When sources disagree, describe the disagreement or leave the value unresolved. Do not fill a gap with an estimate presented as fact.
• Keep historical information with its date. Announcements, reservations, shipping, retail availability and discontinued support are different events.

Citations

References should give the source's title, author or organization, publication, URL, publication date when available, and retrieval date. Place the citation next to the claim it supports. Check that the link opens the intended source and that the rendered reference includes its publication and retrieval date. Preserve source citations when moving content or restructuring an article.

Specifications reused in comparison tables should keep their source in the device article. Prices need a currency, region, configuration and date or price basis, such as a launch price. State whether weight includes a strap, battery or cable; distinguish horizontal, vertical and diagonal field of view. An unknown value should remain unknown.

Review dates

A Reviewed notice records an actual check against sources on the stated date. Its scope identifies what was checked. It does not guarantee that every claim on the page is correct or that information has remained unchanged since that date. The page footer's last-edit time may instead reflect formatting, link maintenance or another small change.

Editors should refresh volatile information when a release, price change, compatibility change or end-of-support notice makes it outdated. The review queue records current priorities. A page should not receive a newer review date solely because it was reformatted or processed automatically.

Corrections

To report a possible error, use the article's Discussion tab and identify the exact statement, the proposed correction, and a supporting source. Sign in or create an account if the page requires it. For a sitewide problem or a correction that cannot be submitted through a discussion page, use the contact address on VRAR Wiki:About. Do not post passwords, account recovery details or other private information in a public discussion.

Editors should check the current revision before making a correction, preserve supported material, explain the specific change in the edit summary, and verify the published result. The View history tab provides earlier revisions and permanent links.

Contributions and conflicts of interest

Contributors connected to a manufacturer, developer or subject should disclose that connection on the relevant discussion page or in an edit summary. Such contributions still need neutral wording and sources. Promotional claims, unsourced superlatives and speculation should not be presented as established facts.
