SpaceWalker is the companion application that VITURE makes for its tethered XR glasses, such as the Viture One, Viture Pro and the Viture Luma series. It exists in a mobile version for iPhone, iPad and Android devices and a desktop version for macOS and Windows. The app places one or more virtual screens in front of the wearer and uses the glasses' motion sensors to keep those screens anchored in space. The mobile version adds a web browser, a media player for 2D, 3D and VR video, a photo gallery, game streaming and "Immersive 3D", VITURE's real-time 2D-to-3D conversion.[1][2]
On the desktop, screens are locked in space with 6DoF tracking on the Viture Luma Ultra and with 3DoF tracking on VITURE's other glasses.[2] The iOS app was first released on September 6, 2023, and both mobile versions were still being updated in August and September 2026.[3][4]
History
VITURE published version 1.0.0 of SpaceWalker for iOS on September 6, 2023. Version 1.1.0 followed on September 25, 2023 with compatibility for the iPhone 15 and iOS 17. Later 2023 releases added Ambient Mode, web video detection and side-by-side 3D video support (1.2.0, November 1), spatial video playback (1.3.0, December 8) and a live news feed on the home screen (1.4.0, December 22).[5] In a December 15, 2023 blog post, VITURE promoted the iOS app as an XR experience for iPhone available only for the VITURE One glasses. The post said that an iPhone 15 could connect to the glasses directly, while Lightning iPhones needed VITURE's HDMI adapter, and that the optional USB-C XR Charging Adapter enabled extra features.[6]
Updates in 2024 added a photo gallery (1.5.0, January 10), a trackpad control mode (1.6.0, April 22), Xbox Cloud Gaming (1.7.0, June 12), Xbox Remote Play and refresh rate options (1.7.1, July 12) and PC game streaming through Moonlight (1.8.0, July 31).[5] By April 2024 a macOS version could show several virtual monitors on the Viture One; 9to5Mac described it as "effectively just a utility for launching and managing the monitors".[7] In July 2024 Laptop Mag reported that SpaceWalker ran on iOS/iPadOS, Android, Windows and macOS, and that the Windows version had only recently been released.[8]
As of September 2026 the iOS app is at version 1.9.32, released on August 24, 2026.[3] The Android app was last updated on September 15, 2026. That release added a status bar on the glasses display showing the time, phone battery level and network status, added firmware updates for the Pro 2 XR glasses, upgraded the built-in browser and fixed a bug in which the app switched the Beast XR glasses to 0DoF mode.[4]
Features
Mobile
SpaceWalker Mobile runs on Android phones and iPhones connected to VITURE XR glasses. It can show up to three virtual screens at once. The phone is the controller: it works as a laser pointer (an air mouse), as a trackpad, or as a remote. A toolbar on the glasses switches between multi-screen and fullscreen views and can minimize a screen to a dock.[1]
Two display modes change how a screen behaves as the wearer moves:[1]
- Pin Mode fixes the fullscreen window in space for a 3DoF viewing experience. On iPhone it requires the USB-C XR Charging Adapter (USB-C iPhones except the iPhone 16e) or the HDMI XR Adapter (Lightning iPhones), and it is unavailable when the glasses connect directly to an iPhone. Head tracking and the glasses' brightness and volume controls are also disabled with a direct iPhone connection.
- Ambient Mode shrinks the screen into a corner of the wearer's view so that video can keep playing while the wearer walks around. It works only in fullscreen, not during 3D, spatial or VR video playback, and it cannot run at the same time as Pin Mode.
The built-in browser gives access to web versions of streaming services that VITURE has adapted and tested. VITURE notes that services such as Netflix cannot be reached through a web browser and are therefore unavailable in SpaceWalker. A video detector can pop playing web videos out into a dedicated view.[1] The media player and photo gallery handle 2D video, spatial video, side-by-side 3D (3840x1080), and 360-degree and 180-degree VR formats. The iOS photo gallery sorts the library into albums such as Spatial, Live Photos, Panoramas and Cinematic, and panoramas can be viewed by turning the head when the USB-C XR Charging Adapter is used. A document reader for Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files is read-only and not available on Android.[1]
For games, the iOS app has Xbox Cloud Gaming, which needs an Xbox Game Pass subscription and a Bluetooth controller, and Xbox Remote Play for streaming from an Xbox console on the same 5 GHz Wi-Fi network. Neither is supported on Android. Remote Play is free for owners of VITURE glasses and part of a paid "Pro features" purchase for other users.[1] The Android app instead has Remote Stream, which streams a Windows PC running SpaceWalker for Windows over the local network. The phone then works as a trackpad, laser pointer, keyboard or on-screen gamepad with gyro input, and the stream can be switched between 2D and 3D display modes.[1]
Immersive 3D
Immersive 3D is an AI feature that converts ordinary photos and videos into stereoscopic 3D in real time. VITURE states that it analyzes each frame for depth cues and spatial relationships and needs no pre-processing.[1] Viewing modes include Standard and Enhanced depth. On iOS the feature needs SpaceWalker 1.9.1 or later and iOS 18 or later, and on Android SpaceWalker 1.5.0 or later and Android 14 or newer. The phone must output video over USB-C (DisplayPort Alt Mode) at a resolution high enough for 3D. VITURE lists the Google Pixel 8 and 9 series as unsupported, recommends a Samsung Galaxy S23 or newer, and does not support Samsung phones with Exynos processors. On iOS the conversion also works on pages in the built-in browser, though DRM can block it on some streaming sites.[1][4] VITURE also distributes Immersive 3D for Mac and Windows as a separate download, and says the feature is free for all VITURE glasses owners.[9]
Desktop
SpaceWalker Desktop for macOS and Windows projects several virtual screens from the computer onto the glasses. It can mirror the computer's own display or extend the desktop across the virtual screens.[2] There are six layouts:[2]
| Layout | Notes |
|---|---|
| Single display | Supported on Beast XR glasses |
| Dual displays (side by side) | Supported on Beast XR glasses |
| Triple displays (side by side) | Supported on Beast XR glasses |
| Stacked triple displays | Not supported on Beast XR glasses |
| Ultrawide panoramic display | Supported on Beast XR glasses; 24:9 or 32:9 aspect ratio setting |
| Portrait-landscape-portrait ("Coding Mode") | Not supported on Beast XR glasses |
The wearer can unlock individual rotation axes (yaw, pitch or roll) so that the screens follow the head in those directions, and keyboard shortcuts resize, recenter and recalibrate the display. On the Viture Luma, Luma Pro, Luma Ultra and Pro glasses the app can set the glasses to 120 Hz, 90 Hz or 60 Hz. Other options include Head Tracking Correction and automatic IMU calibration for the Viture Luma Pro, hand gesture interaction, and "Visual Lock", a beta feature for the Beast glasses that uses their RGB camera to steady the virtual screens and is available only in the Windows version.[2]
On Macs, SpaceWalker 1.2.3 and later needs macOS Ventura 13.0 or higher. Intel-based Macs lost support in version 1.6.0, and Luma Ultra support starts with version 1.7.0, so the Luma Ultra does not work with SpaceWalker on any Intel Mac. The Windows version needs 64-bit Windows 10 (version 1903 or later) or Windows 11, and VITURE lists 16 GB of RAM, a CPU equivalent to an Intel Core i7-13620H, a recommended NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580 or better, and a USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode. VITURE advises against playing games inside SpaceWalker because of its graphics load.[2]
Reception
Reviewing the Viture Pro for Tom's Guide in May 2024, Jason England called SpaceWalker "a revelation for multi-screen spatial computing (if slightly buggy at times)".[10] Laptop Mag's Rael Hornby wrote that the macOS version offered "a much truer spatial computing experience", including ultrawide 21:9 displays, and that the recently released Windows version could be "a little buggy at times". He wrote that no other smart glasses maker had rival software.[8] 9to5Mac's Ben Lovejoy noted in April 2024 that the positions of the Mac monitors "wander a little" and have to be re-centered with a keyboard shortcut, which becomes a nuisance when it is needed often.[7]
As of September 2026 the iOS app has an average rating of 4.1 out of 5 from about 1,400 ratings on the US App Store, and the Android app has more than 100,000 downloads on Google Play.[3][4]
