Meta Horizon+ (formerly Meta Quest+) is a paid game subscription from Meta Platforms for its Meta Quest headsets. As of October 2026, Meta sells it for US$7.99 per month or US$59.99 per year (local prices vary) and describes it as including a catalog of more than 100 VR games, two monthly titles that subscribers redeem and keep while subscribed, exclusive discounts on premium games, and the starter edition of Xbox Game Pass.[1] Meta's subscription terms describe it as "a content subscription program for Meta's virtual and augmented reality devices".[2]
The service launched on 26 June 2023 as Meta Quest+, offering two games a month.[3] A rotating Games Catalog followed on 1 March 2024,[4] and Meta renamed the service Meta Horizon+ on 7 May 2025.[5] Meta said the subscription passed 1 million subscribers in 2025 and that it paid nearly US$20 million to participating developers that year.[6]
History
Meta Quest+ (2023-2025)
At launch, UploadVR noted that a hidden page mentioning "Quest Pass" had been spotted in March 2023.[3] Meta launched Meta Quest+ on 26 June 2023 at US$7.99 per month or US$59.99 per year, with an introductory first month for US$1 that ran until 31 July 2023.[3] Subscribers could redeem two titles on the first of each month and keep playing them for as long as their membership stayed active. Cancelling removed access to redeemed games, and rejoining restored it. Redeemed titles were also eligible for App Sharing across accounts.[7] At launch the service worked on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro, with Meta Quest 3 support planned.[3]
The first two months of titles were:[7]
| Month | Titles |
|---|---|
| July 2023 | Pistol Whip (Cloudhead Games), Pixel Ripped 1995 (ARVORE Immersive Experiences) |
| August 2023 | Walkabout Mini Golf (Mighty Coconut), MOTHERGUNSHIP: FORGE (Terrible Posture Games) |
On 1 March 2024 Meta added the Games Catalog, a library of titles that subscribers could play while subscribed and that Meta said it would "rotate in and out" regularly. UploadVR's launch list named 13 games, including Demeo, Moss, Onward, Red Matter, The Climb and Walkabout Mini Golf. In the same period, buyers of the 512 GB Quest 3 received a six-month free trial of the subscription.[4] MIXED described the catalog as a step that made the service "more like Game Pass" and reported that annual sign-ups between 1 March and 31 May 2024 received US$25 in store credit.[8]
Rename to Meta Horizon+ (2025)
On 7 May 2025 Meta announced that "Meta Quest+ is now Meta Horizon+", describing the service as offering "monthly drops of two new titles, access to a growing games catalog, and exclusive deals". The monthly titles that May were Pavlov Shack and Kill It With Fire VR.[5] UploadVR explained that Meta had renamed its Quest software platform to Meta Horizon the year before and that Quest+ was "the only remaining platform usage of the Quest brand", while the Quest name stayed on Meta's own headsets.[9] MIXED linked the rename to Meta's plan for a single Horizon platform, including the licensing of Meta Horizon OS to other hardware makers, and reported that prices in Europe stayed at EUR 7.99 per month or EUR 59.99 per year. It listed Quest 2, Quest 3, Meta Quest 3S and Quest Pro as supported headsets.[10]
Indie Catalog and developer applications (2025)
In October 2025 Meta began beta testing an Indie Catalog for smaller games with a subset of users and let developers apply for a place in Horizon+ through the Meta Developer Dashboard instead of waiting to be invited.[11] Meta's developer documentation says the Indie Catalog "exclusively spotlights emerging apps and hidden gems" that have not reached the store's top-selling charts.[12] By February 2026 UploadVR counted about 50 games in the main Games Catalog and about 50 in the Indie Catalog.[13]
Subscriber figures (2026)
In February 2026 Meta disclosed for the first time that Horizon+ had passed 1 million active subscribers during 2025. Road to VR reported that Reality Labs VP of Content Samantha Ryan gave the figure in a post on Meta's developer site.[14] UploadVR noted that new Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets came with three months of Horizon+ and that it had asked Meta whether those trial users were counted.[13] In its GDC 2026 developer post, Meta wrote that Horizon+ "reached over 1M subscribers" in 2025, that it "paid out nearly $20M to participating developers" that year, and that the catalog was "now over 100 games".[6]
Xbox Game Pass starter edition (July 2026)
On 21 July 2026 Meta added the starter edition of Xbox Game Pass to Horizon+ at no extra cost. Meta said it offered more than 50 games, among them Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Grounded, DayZ, Deep Rock Galactic and SnowRunner, with up to 10 hours of cloud gaming per month and unlimited play of downloaded titles. Meta also announced a gamepad emulator that lets Meta Quest Touch controllers act as an Xbox controller, "rolling out in the coming weeks" at the time of the announcement.[15] MIXED noted that the separate Xbox Game Pass Essential plan cost US$9.99 per month in the US and that the 10-hour limit applies only to cloud streaming, not to downloaded games.[16] The benefit is limited to supported regions and is not available to people who already hold a Game Pass subscription.[1][2]
In-game add-ons (October 2026)
In early October 2026 Meta began including free in-game add-ons for selected games. The first was a five-month offer for Orion Drift, the free-to-play social game from Another Axiom (the developer of Gorilla Tag): each month subscribers can claim one cosmetic item and 1,000 driftium, the game's currency, building a five-piece cosmetic set. Meta said Gorilla Tag add-ons would follow in December 2026.[17] The October 2026 monthly titles were SWARM 2 and Waltz of the Wizard, and Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked and Deadly Delivery joined the catalog.[18]

Features
As of October 2026 the subscription has these parts:
| Component | How it works |
|---|---|
| Monthly titles | Two Meta-selected games each month, which Meta describes as "a top hit and a hidden gem". They must be redeemed within the month offered and stay in the library while the subscription is active.[1][2] |
| Games Catalog | A rotating catalog that can change monthly. Titles removed from the catalog leave the subscriber's library.[2] Together with the Indie Catalog it holds more than 100 Quest titles in the US.[18] |
| Indie Catalog | Smaller games that have not reached the store's top-selling charts (beta).[12] |
| Subscriber deals | Exclusive discounts on premium games.[1] Developers set the duration, and sales follow normal store terms.[12] |
| Add-on benefits | Time-limited promotions such as try-before-you-buy offers and free in-app items, which can carry their own terms and eligibility rules.[2] |
| Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition) | More than 50 games and up to 10 hours of cloud gaming per month; supported regions only.[1][2] |
Only the base app is included for subscription games; in-app purchases and add-on content are excluded unless Meta states otherwise.[2] Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current billing period. A subscriber who later rejoins on the same account regains the monthly titles redeemed earlier, as long as they are still available on the platform, along with the current catalog.[2] Subscribers must be at least 13 (14 in South Korea, Spain and Quebec, Canada); younger users can reach redeemed titles through a parent's or guardian's subscription via App Sharing.[1] Titles can be redeemed on the web, in the headset store or in the Meta Horizon mobile app.[1]
Price and availability
Meta lists Horizon+ at US$7.99 per month or US$59.99 per year, with local prices varying by country. A three-month trial comes with the purchase of a Quest headset,[1] and Meta's July 2026 announcement also invited people to try the service free for a month.[15] These US prices are the same as at the 2023 launch.[3] The terms allow Meta to change prices or content with reasonable advance notice, and they say eligibility and benefits can vary by location, age, parental settings and local law.[2]
Supported devices
Horizon+ is redeemed and played on Meta Quest headsets.[1] Meta Quest+ launched on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro,[3] and by 2025 MIXED listed Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S and Quest Pro as supported.[10] Cloud gaming through the included Xbox Game Pass starter edition also works on Xbox consoles, PCs and other supported devices.[1]
Developer program
Meta pays developers differently for each part of the program. A monthly title receives a one-time payment based on the number of subscribers during its month and the app's past store performance. Games Catalog and Indie Catalog apps receive a share of subscription revenue based on the game's performance during its participation period. Subscriber deals follow normal store sales terms.[12] Meta's GDC 2026 post described payouts as based on usage and minimum guarantees.[6]

When selecting apps, Meta says it considers genre and sub-genre, engagement, store revenue and player feedback.[12] When the Indie Catalog beta opened in October 2025, UploadVR reported a revenue range of US$50 to US$3,500, lower than the range in the current documentation.[11]
