KIWI Design (stylized KIWI design) is a Chinese consumer electronics company that designs and sells third-party accessories for Virtual Reality headsets, best known for its head straps, controller grips, facial interfaces, and charging products for the Meta Quest line.[1][2] The brand belongs to Shenzhen Hongjiantou Technology Co., Ltd. and is based in Shenzhen, China.[3] KIWI design positions itself as an officially licensed Meta partner and a maker of premium comfort and charging hardware for standalone VR, and it competes with rivals such as VR Cover and Meta's own first-party accessories.[2][4]
In 2025 the company said it had sold more than one million head straps to Meta Quest users, and it has described itself as the top-selling VR accessories brand of 2022 with a portfolio of over 100 patents.[5]
History
KIWI design was founded in 2015 by Ray Zhang, an industrial designer, and grew into an e-commerce business that combines research and development, product design, and direct sales.[6][7] The company traces its VR work to a team of VR enthusiasts and describes a series of early milestones: a refined VR cable management system in 2018, a radiator fan for the Valve Index in 2019, and updated facial interfaces, controller grips, and head straps across 2020 and 2021.[1] Its parent entity, Shenzhen Hongjiantou Technology Co., Ltd., is listed as the owner of the KIWI DESIGN trademark.[3]
As the Meta Quest 2 became the most widely used standalone headset, KIWI design concentrated much of its catalog on Quest accessories, a focus noted by reviewers who described the firm as an established maker that had "been around a few years" and offered a "luxury alternative" to first-party and competing third-party hardware.[2]
Made for Meta certification
In November 2023, KIWI design announced that its RGB Charging Dock for the Meta Quest 2 had been accepted into Meta's official "Made for Meta" third-party accessory program, and the company said it would produce Meta Quest 3 accessories under the same label.[4][5] Made for Meta is a Meta program through which the company partners with selected accessory brands so their products are validated for use with Meta headsets; other participants have included Anker and Razer.[4] KIWI design promotes this certification as a point of difference for its head straps, grips, facial covers, and charging docks for the Quest 3S, Quest 3, Quest 2, and Meta Quest Pro.[5]
One million head straps
In June 2025, KIWI design said it had passed one million head straps sold to Meta Quest owners, a milestone it tied to its Made for Meta comfort and charging lineup.[5] In the same announcement the company reiterated its claim to have been the top-selling VR accessories brand in 2022 and said it held over 100 patents.[5]
