Even Realities G2 (marketed as Even G2) is a pair of display smart glasses developed by Even Realities, a Shenzhen-based company founded in 2023. The glasses project a green monochrome heads-up display into both lenses through micro-LED projectors and waveguides, and they have no camera and no speakers. They are the successor to the Even Realities G1. As of October 2026 the G2 is on sale on the company's United States store from US$599 with non-prescription lenses.[5][6][2][7][8]

Even Realities announced the G2 on 12 November 2025 together with the Even R1, a companion smart ring that controls the glasses with tap and swipe gestures and records wellness data. Both went on sale the same day at evenrealities.com for US$599 (G2) and US$249 (R1).[3][9] The glasses weigh 36 g, use a magnesium alloy frame with titanium alloy temples, and accept prescription lenses from -12.00 to +12.00 diopters.[2][1]

The software runs on a paired iOS or Android phone and covers notifications, turn-by-turn navigation, a teleprompter, live translation, transcription, the Even AI voice assistant and Conversate, a feature that listens to a conversation and shows context on the display. In 2026 Even Realities added Prep Notes, the Even Hub third-party app store, and Terminal Mode for supervising AI coding agents.[8][10][11]

Announcement and release

Even Realities was started in 2023 by former Apple engineers; founder and chief executive Will Wang had worked on the Apple Watch and iPhone. Its first product, the Even G1, launched in 2024, and according to Wang it sold more than 10,000 pairs.[7] On 6 November 2025 the company posted a teaser video for a second-generation product showing calendar notifications on a monochrome display and set the launch for 12 November.[12]

The G2 and the R1 ring were unveiled on 12 November 2025 and went on sale the same day through the company's website. Launch pricing was US$599 for the glasses and US$249 for the ring, and for a limited time buyers of the G2 could get the R1 and accessories at half price.[3] In the United Kingdom and the eurozone the glasses listed at £599 and €699, and the ring at £239 and €269.[4] Existing G1 owners who bought a G2 were offered the R1 free.[9] Dezeen reported that the product was launching in Europe and the United States first, with the company's home market of China to follow later.[13]

In July 2026 TechCrunch reported that the G2 "hit the market last November", that more than half of the company's users were in the United States, and that its main markets were the United States, Japan, South Korea, the Middle East and Europe. The company still did not sell in China, although its factories are there. In the same report Even Realities announced a US$150 million pre-Series B round led by Meituan and Tencent at a valuation of US$1 billion.[7] In an announcement dated 5 August 2026 the company named iNNOHOME its exclusive distributor for Taiwan, with sales planned to begin in the third quarter of 2026.[14]

Production and regional launches

In an interview with Mogura VR at CES 2026 in January, Wang said orders had grown much faster than the company expected, that production capacity was already three times its level at launch, and that he expected most of the order backlog to be cleared by the end of January 2026. He also said the store selling the most G2 units at that time was in Japan, a store the interviewer identified as JUN GINZA.[15] JUN GINZA, an eyewear retailer, lists stores in Ginza, Tokyo, and in the Nagoya Hilton Plaza.[15][16] Even Realities held its first community event in Japan, Even Day Japan 2026, at TRUNK (HOTEL) in Tokyo on 17 July 2026; the company's recap says that "Will" walked attendees through the roadmap for the G2, the R1 and Even Hub.[17] On 30 September 2026 Acalie, described in the release as Even Realities' general distributor in Japan, and I Japan, operator of the Aimegane optical chain, announced that the number of Aimegane stores certified to sell the G2 with prescription lenses had grown to five, in Saitama, Tochigi and Chiba prefectures; the lenses are made to order and take about four weeks.[18]

In Taiwan, where iNNOHOME is the distributor, the United Daily News reported on 2 August 2026 that pre-orders had opened that day and that the G2 would go on sale on 6 August at a suggested price of NT$19,990, with the R1 at NT$7,990. Retail channels named in the report included Eslite, FNAC, Taiwan Mobile, the momo online store and iNNOHOME.[14][19]

MIXED reported on 3 October 2026 that the company's United States store showed both Even G1 frame styles as sold out, although Even Realities had not announced that the G1 was discontinued.[6] In the January 2026 interview Wang said the company was already working on the G3, the model that would follow the G2.[15]

Design and hardware

Frame

The G2 is sold in two frame shapes, Even G2 A (Crown Panto, a rounded lens with a straight top line) and Even G2 B (Rectangular), each in three colors that the company lists as dark grey, olive green and dark brown.[5][20][1] The frame front is magnesium alloy and the temples are titanium alloy, joined by a patented screwless hinge, and the nose pads are adjustable. Even Realities states a weight of 36 g.[1][2] Android Police measured 44 g for a review unit fitted with prescription lenses.[21]

In a January 2026 engineering post, Even Realities said the G2's optical stack is 45% smaller than comparable public designs, that the flexible printed circuit is now fully enclosed inside the temple (parts of the G1's wiring had been partly exposed to sweat and humidity), and that the microphone count rose from two to four.[22]

Lenses and prescriptions

Prescription lenses are made to order from Mitsui Chemicals MR-series material with anti-reflective and anti-fingerprint coatings, and the company says the multi-layer lenses are 30% thinner than those of the previous generation.[1][2] Custom lenses cover -12.00 to +12.00 diopters.[2][13] On the United States store, non-prescription lenses are included in the base price and single-vision lenses start at US$159; progressive lenses are handled through partner opticians. Prescription orders are custom-made and cannot be returned.[5] A clip-on sunshade is sold separately.[20]

Controls

The display is operated from touchpads on the temple tips (press, double press, swipe up, swipe down, and long press and release), by voice with the wake phrase "Hey Even", or from the optional R1 ring, which supports the same gestures.[23][24] In its launch-day review, Tom's Guide noted that the G1 had required the wearer to look up to open the interface, while the G2 opens it with a tap on the temple by default.[25]

Battery and charging

The glasses contain a 192 mAh (0.744 Wh) lithium battery, and the charging case holds 2000 mAh (7.4 Wh), enough for about seven full recharges. Even Realities rates the glasses at two days of typical use (intermittent information checks, notifications and navigation) and says a full charge in the case takes 1 to 1.5 hours.[26][2] The case charges the glasses through magnetically aligned pogo-pin contacts instead of the G1's wireless charging, which the company says is about 2.5 times faster and removes the need to fold the temples in a particular order.[22]

Connectivity and sensors

The glasses pair with a phone over Bluetooth Low Energy; the current specification page lists BLE 5.4, while launch coverage and the developer documentation list Bluetooth 5.2.[1][27][23] Four microphones feed a single 16 kHz audio stream to the phone.[23] Ambient light sensors adjust display brightness automatically, and the inertial measurement unit gained a geomagnetic sensor (compass) so that navigation directions turn with the wearer's head.[2][22][3]

The current specification lists IP65 dust and water resistance, which the company describes as suitable for rain and splashes but not for submersion. Launch coverage in November 2025 had reported an IP67 rating.[1][2][3][28]

Display and optics

Each lens carries a diffractive waveguide fed by a micro-LED projector housed in the temple; the company calls the system Even HAO 2.0 (Holistic Adaptive Optics). The specification page lists a green monochrome image of 640 x 350 pixels, a 27.5 degree field of view, a 60 Hz refresh rate, 1200 nits brightness and 98% optical transmission through the lens.[1] The developer documentation describes the application canvas as 576 x 288 pixels per eye with 16 grey levels.[23] Even Realities states that the projectors are 40% smaller than those in the G1, that the display area is 75% larger and 50% sharper, and that a graded grating structure improves brightness uniformity across the image.[27] Because only the lit pixels are illuminated, the background stays dark, and the company says content is focused at approximately 2 meters in front of the wearer.[2]

The display can show information on more than one visual layer: short AI prompts and notifications appear in the foreground while navigation or notes sit behind them, which the company markets as a 3D floating display.[3][9] Reviewers reported that the image remained legible outdoors. Tom's Guide found the interface clear while walking around London on bright days, and Android Police called the display sharp and visible in sunlight.[25][21] The Shortcut, by contrast, found it hard to read in direct sunlight.[29] Because the waveguides are placed in both lenses, the image is binocular, unlike the single-lens display of the Meta Ray-Ban Display.[25]

Software and features

The G2 has no onboard apps of its own; the Even Realities app on the paired phone does the processing and the glasses act as a display and input device.[23] The company lists these built-in functions:[2][3]

Even AI

Even AI combines a proprietary model the company calls Even LLM, which keeps a long-term memory of the wearer's preferences and earlier conversations, with third-party models; the company's product page names ChatGPT and Perplexity. Limited functions work offline, but most AI features need an internet connection through the phone.[24] The company states that no subscription is required.[14] Wang told TechCrunch that voice features such as translation transcribe audio to text rather than storing recordings and that user data is encrypted.[7]

In a September 2026 post on its data practices, Even Realities said that audio is sent off the glasses for transcription and translation while transcripts and history stay on the user's phone, that Conversate speech and uploaded context are not used to train models, and that it does not build advertising profiles or sell device data. The post describes a Privacy page in the app settings with separate switches for health data, cloud backup, AI memory and usage data sharing, says that third-party Even Hub apps must request permissions such as microphone or network access, and states that its servers are currently in the Netherlands on Google Cloud Platform. It also describes an option to route the glasses to an AI model running on the user's own hardware.[32] These are the company's own statements (see Privacy in virtual and augmented reality).

2026 software updates

On 26 March 2026 Even Realities announced Prep Notes, a reworked version of Conversate that the company later referred to as Conversate 2.0. Before a meeting, the wearer uploads a PDF or document, or types notes, on the phone; the glasses then surface the relevant notes, keywords and suggested answers during the conversation, and the wearer can switch between live captions, suggestions and the loaded notes with a tap on the glasses or the ring.[8][33][14] The same update reduced clutter in the display interface.[33]

Version 2.2.0, released at the end of April 2026, added Terminal Mode and let users export Conversate and Translate records, continue an Even AI conversation without repeating the wake word, and improved sleep detection and connection stability.[11]

Version 2.3.2 of the companion app, released on 2 October 2026, added customizable long-press shortcuts for the G2 and the R1, a QuickNote feature for creating and viewing notes on the glasses and a redesigned Even Hub discovery page; it renamed QuickList to Reminders and changed map providers for Navigate in some regions. The release notes state that the update also requires new firmware on both the G2 and the R1.[31][6] MIXED noted that Even Realities does not publish firmware version numbers for either device.[6]

Even Hub

Even Hub is the company's developer platform and app store. It was first promised for the end of 2025 for both the G1 and G2, then launched for the G2 in early April 2026.[3][9][8] At launch Digital Trends counted about 50 apps and plug-ins from a community of more than 2,000 developers, installed from a tab in the companion app; examples included weather and stock trackers, ebook readers, workout guides, Spotify controls, vehicle management, breathing exercises and chess.[10]

Even Hub apps ("plugins") are web applications written in HTML, CSS and JavaScript or TypeScript that run on the phone and use the Even Hub SDK (the npm package @evenrealities/even_hub_sdk) to draw on the glasses and read touchpad, ring and microphone input. Developers test in a local simulator or sideload a build to their own glasses through a QR code, package it as an .ehpk file and submit it through the developer portal for review. As of August 2026 the documentation said that dashboard widgets, dashboard layouts and AI skills were planned as further app surfaces.[23][34]

Terminal Mode

Terminal Mode, announced in late April 2026, shows the status of an AI coding agent (thinking, executing or listening) as a persistent indicator on the display and alerts the wearer when the agent needs approval or reports an error. A single tap on the R1 ring approves a simple request, and holding the ring or the temple lets the wearer dictate instructions.[35][36] Wang framed the feature as a way to free developers from watching a screen while an agent works.[35]

Even R1 ring

The Even R1 is a smart ring made of zirconia ceramic with a stainless steel lining. It connects to the phone and the glasses over Bluetooth through the Even Realities app, supports tap, scroll and long-press gestures for controlling the G2, and can be paired with only one pair of glasses at a time. Its optical sensors track heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen, skin temperature trends, respiratory rate, steps, calories and estimated sleep stages, and the app combines sleep and activity trends into a Productivity Score. The company rates the battery at up to four days, with a full charge taking about 90 minutes, and lists IP68 water resistance and an operating range of -10 °C to 45 °C. Even Realities describes the ring as a wellness device, not a medical one.[37] The R1 costs US$249, is sized with a free sizing kit because its sizes differ from US and EU standards, and, according to its store page, currently works only with the G2.[38]

Reviewers generally preferred the ring to the temple touchpads. VRX called it the preferred input in meetings,[39] Wareable described it as near-essential for effortless control while noting that it drives up the total cost,[40] and How-To Geek wrote that an optional US$249 ring should not be necessary to solve accidental touch activation on the temples.[41] Engadget's launch preview found the ring's touch controls imprecise and its fitness recording incomplete, and Android Police reported charging and connection failures that later software updates improved, along with accidental activations caused by the ring's thickness.[28][21]

9to5Mac put prescription lens pricing at US$159 to US$349 depending on strength.[43] Wang told TechCrunch that the frames retail for US$599 before tax and that prescription lenses or the ring add another US$200 to US$300, so the average order is roughly US$1,000.[7] The glasses are also sold through optician partners; the United States store lists them as eligible for HSA and FSA payment when prescription lenses are ordered.[5]

MIXED pointed out that in Japan all three progressive lens options cost more than the frame itself.[44] On the United States store in October 2026, the R1 was sold separately at US$249, the spare G2 charging case at US$149 and the R1 charger at US$49.[6]

Sales and market share

Market research firms count the G2 within Even Realities' total shipments. Counterpoint Research placed Even Realities third among makers of waveguide-based AR glasses in the second half of 2025, with a 16% share of that segment attributed to its G1 and G2 series, and at 9% of the segment in the first quarter of 2026, behind Rokid and Meta.[45][46] In figures released on 23 September 2026, Omdia ranked Even Realities second in global AI glasses shipments for the first half of 2026, with 102,000 units and a 2.4% share, up from fifth place in the second half of 2025. Omdia attributed the rise to demand for the G2 series in North America and Western Europe. Meta led with 3.4 million units and an 81.3% share of the 4.2 million total.[47][48]

Reception

Launch-day coverage praised the design and criticized unfinished software. Tom's Guide's Darragh Murphy gave the G2 a "Recommended" verdict, listing the discreet styling, faster Even AI, intuitive controls and two-day battery as strengths, and the price, occasional wireless disconnections and the ring's limited health features as weaknesses. He tried Conversate with Wang in London, where the glasses recognized a discussion about Steve Jobs and displayed background and talking points.[25] Engadget's Sam Rutherford called the G2 "this year's best-looking new smart glasses" but wrote that "the company's software just isn't ready yet", citing imprecise ring input, pairing problems and auto-brightness that did not work in his testing; Even Realities acknowledged the issues as known and under development.[28]

Reviews published in 2026 followed several software updates. Android Police's Andy Boxall scored the G2 8/10 in June 2026, praising the build, the prescription lenses and the binocular display and finding the two-day battery estimate conservative, while criticizing the awkward temple controls, the ring's accidental activations, installation glitches in the app store and the way Conversate pulled him out of real conversations.[21] Max Buondonno of The Shortcut gave the G2 4 out of 5 in July 2026; he found notifications, to-do lists, calendar access and transcription the most useful features, but reported that the display was hard to read in direct sunlight, that reflections and a blurry edge where the display meets the lens could be distracting, and that some Even Hub apps felt like bloatware.[29] Ben Lovejoy of 9to5Mac found navigation valuable for cycling and translation the most impressive feature, but described a safety concern: even with a transparent display, the glasses diverted his attention while cycling and walking.[43] Wareable, in August 2026, wrote that the launch software had felt thin but that months of updates and the Even Hub platform had changed what the G2 could do, and reported that the R1 ring needed charging about once a week.[40] How-To Geek's Jon Fingas, in September 2026, rated navigation and Mandarin-to-English translation highly, criticized inconsistent AI responses, a thin app selection and accidental swipes, and judged the G2 less useful than the US$799 Meta Ray-Ban Display but much cheaper at US$599 and free of cameras.[41]

Wang has said that most customers are male professionals between 30 and 50 and that about a third of users are company executives.[7]

Awards

The G2 and R1 were named a 2026 Honoree in the Travel & Tourism category of the CES Innovation Awards, listed under Hong Kong Even Realities Limited.[30] In September 2026 Even Realities announced that the G2 had won the Best in Design and Best in Communications & Connectivity categories of the 2026 IFA Innovation Awards in Berlin, a program that IFA said drew more than 530 entries.[49][50]

Design patents

On 11 August 2026 the United States Patent and Trademark Office issued two design patents titled "Smart Glasses", D1,140,996 and D1,140,997, which Shenzhen Yiwen Tech Limited (the company that operates the Even Realities brand) says it owns. On 24 August 2026 the company filed a complaint in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York (case 1:26-cv-05220) against XGIMI, two XGIMI-related companies and Kickstarter, alleging that the MemoMind One glasses, marketed through a Kickstarter campaign and XGIMI's website, infringe the patents, and that online comments reflected consumer confusion about whether Even Realities and MemoMind were connected.[51] These are the plaintiff's allegations. The docket lists a motion for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction filed on 25 August, a related sealing motion whose exhibits include one titled "Dusseldorf Preliminary Injunction Order", and, on 2 September 2026, a notice of voluntary dismissal and an order on the restraining-order motion; the docket summary does not describe the content of these filings.[52] The dispute and the campaign are covered in MemoMind One.
