Death Horizon: Reloaded is a virtual reality zombie shooter developed by Dream Dev Studio LLP. It is a reworked version of Death Horizon, a 2017 shooter for mobile VR headsets, rebuilt for the two tracked controllers of the Oculus Quest. The player fights through the Horizon research laboratory, a facility overrun by zombies after an outbreak of the T12 virus, and can shoot with either hand, climb pipes and ladders, hang from ropes and throw objects.[1][2]
The game was released on the Oculus Quest on 26 September 2019.[3] Later updates added a new chapter, two-player online co-op, eight challenge modes and a Horde Mode for up to four players. A PC VR version followed on Steam on 18 May 2023 and a single-player PlayStation VR2 version on 18 December 2025; both list Horizon Lab LLP as publisher.[4][5]
Gameplay
Death Horizon: Reloaded is a first-person shooter set inside the Horizon scientific research station. The player moves through laboratories, corridors, offices and locker rooms, collecting ammunition and fighting zombies.[1][6] A mysterious figure speaks to the player over the station's loudspeakers and directs them through the levels.[6]
The game is built around using both controllers at once. According to the developer, the player can fire with both hands, fire while hanging from a rope and reload a shotgun with the second hand.[1] Players can also climb pipes and ladders, jump onto bars, search cupboards and throw objects at enemies.[4] In the 2019 Quest release reviewed by 6DOF Reviews, movement used short-range teleportation, the player could holster two pistols and carry one larger gun such as an assault rifle or pump-action shotgun, and bombs could be thrown and then shot to detonate them. Enemies included zombie dogs, spitting zombies and large zombies swinging sledgehammers. An "impossible" difficulty gave the player one life and no checkpoints in exchange for a place on the high-score leaderboards.[6]
The current Steam version lists a full campaign that can be played solo or in two-player co-op, eight challenge modes for solo or co-op play, more than 15 melee weapons, weapon upgrades, a choice of manual or automatic reloading, and collectables hidden around the station.[4] The PlayStation Store lists the campaign, Horde Mode and eight challenges, with sitting and standing play styles.[5]
Development
The game's official website credits Dream Dev Studio LLP.[1] Metacritic lists the studio as developer and publisher of the Quest version.[3] The original Death Horizon was released in 2017 for the mobile headsets Oculus Go, Gear VR and Google Daydream.[7][2] It was an on-rails shooter played with a single 3DOF motion controller.[2][6] For the Quest version, the studio used the headset's two position-tracked controllers to add dual-wielding, throwing and combat while climbing.[2] MoguraVR described the Quest game as a remake with improved graphics and an expanded campaign.[7]
On Steam, the game's developer and publisher are listed as Horizon Lab LLP, and update notes are signed "Horizon Lab" while giving an email contact at the dream-dev.com domain.[4][8] The PC version uses OpenXR.[4]

Release
UploadVR reported on 23 September 2019 that the game would come to the Oculus Quest that month.[2] It was released on 26 September 2019 at US$19.99; in April 2020 it was still exclusive to the Quest.[3][6][9] MoguraVR gave the Japanese price as 1,990 yen including tax.[7]
On 8 May 2023 Horizon Lab announced that the game would come to SteamVR that month, with solo and co-op play.[16] The Steam store page lists the Oculus Quest, Meta Quest 2, Oculus Rift, Oculus Rift S, HTC Vive and Valve Index as supported headsets.[4] The official website also links to a Pico store listing.[1]

Reception
Metacritic lists no critic reviews for the game.[3] Andrew Podolsky of 6DOF Reviews gave the Quest version 7 out of 10, calling it a "competent zombie shooter" whose climbing mechanic was "underused but refreshingly distinctive". He criticized its generic environments and enemies, the lack of music and its length of under two hours on normal difficulty.[6]
As of 7 October 2026, the game had a rating of 4.2 out of 5 from about 3,400 user ratings on the Meta Horizon Store,[17] and a "Mostly Positive" user rating on Steam.[4]
