DPVR P1 Pro is a standalone virtual reality head-mounted display made by DPVR, which launched it in April 2019 as an all-in-one model built on the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 processor.[1] The headset has a single LCD panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1440, a 100-degree field of view and a 72 Hz refresh rate. It tracks head rotation only (3DoF) and comes with a Bluetooth controller that is also tracked in three degrees of freedom.[2][3]
DPVR markets the P1 Pro for home use and for education, training and healthcare.[3] An education version with more memory, the P1 Pro EDU, is used in Lenovo's VR Classroom package.[4] As of September 2026 the headset was still listed in DPVR's online store.[3]
History
DPVR launched the M2, which it calls the world's first all-in-one VR headset, in March 2016. In January 2019 it released the DPVR P2, which it describes as the first all-in-one VR headset with the Qualcomm XR1 processor. The P1 Pro followed in April 2019 and also uses the XR1. DPVR launched a "double 4K" headset in July 2019.[1]
The P1 Pro belongs to DPVR's P1 family. Its entry-level model, the DPVR P1, uses a VR9 processor and is intended mainly for watching content. The P1 Pro was sold in HD and 4K versions with the XR1 processor, the latter as the DPVR P1 Pro 4K. The DPVR P1 Ultra 4K uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845.[3][5] A single user guide covers the P1, P1 Pro and P1 Pro 4K, and shows one layout of buttons, ports and head strap for all three models.[6]
In August 2021 DPVR announced the DPVR P1 Pro Light, which Auganix described as a light version of the P1 Pro and a more cost-effective choice for entry-level customers. It uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. The base version was priced at US$399, with availability planned for September 2021.[7]
The P1 Pro page on DPVR's store cites an iF Design Award that the P1 won in 2019.[3] iF's winners list includes a DPVR headset entry titled "DPVR Personal Cinema", credited to Shanghai Lexiang Technology Co., Ltd., which received the award in the 2019 Product Design discipline in the Gaming/VR/AR category and lists a 2018 launch. The entry describes a gold and black body with an aluminum alloy front panel, a speaker integrated into the body, a one-piece soft face mask and a T-shaped headband that allows the headset to be used while lying down.[8]
Design and hardware
Processor and memory
The headset uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1. DPVR's specification sheet lists an eight-core Kryo 300 CPU running at 1.7/2.5 GHz and an Adreno 615 GPU at 780 MHz. The standard model has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, and a 6 GB + 128 GB configuration is also listed.[2] DPVR sells the higher-memory configuration as the P1 Pro EDU.[9] Storage can be expanded with a TF (microSD) card, and the Micro-USB port supports OTG and data transfer to a computer.[6]
Display and optics
The P1 Pro has a single 5.5-inch fast LCD with a resolution of 2560 x 1440, a pixel density of 538 ppi and a 72 Hz refresh rate. DPVR lists a 100-degree field of view, 15 pixels per degree and Fresnel lenses.[2] The company says the Fresnel lenses reduce stray light and halo effects.[5] DPVR's specification sheet gives an adaptive interpupillary distance range of 53 to 73 mm and states that the display has TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification.[2]
Tracking and input
The headset tracks orientation with a gyroscope and an accelerometer, and it has a proximity sensor. It has no cameras.[2] Users can move an on-screen cursor by turning their head and select items by tapping the touchpad on the right side of the headset; sliding on the touchpad scrolls or turns pages. A return button, a power button and volume buttons sit on the headset body.[6]
The included controller is the DPVR Bluetooth Controller, model BC301. According to the user guide it weighs 45 g, runs on two AAA batteries, and has a touchpad, a trigger, a return key and a home button. Holding the home button for two seconds adjusts the controller position.[6] DPVR's P1 range page also names NOLO as a controller option for the P1 family.[5]
Audio, connectivity and power
The P1 Pro has built-in stereo speakers, a microphone and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and Bluetooth 4.2.[2] The headset cannot be charged while it is being worn, according to the user guide.[6] Its 4000 mAh battery is rated by DPVR for up to 5 hours.[2][5]
Build
DPVR lists a weight of 340 g without the face mask and dimensions of 181 x 113 x 94 mm. The front panel is cut from anodized aluminum alloy, and business customers can order it in custom colors with a laser-engraved logo. The head strap is adjustable and removable, and the face cushion uses sponge covered with Lycra fabric.[2] The box contains the headset, a charger, a USB cable, a lens cleaning cloth and the controller.[6]

Software and features
The P1 Pro runs DPVR's DPUI 4.0 interface. DPVR lists screen casting and Viveport as a game platform on the headset.[2] For business customers, DPVR offers software customization based on its DPLauncher, including a custom boot screen and logo, pre-installed apps and apps that start automatically.[2]
DPVR's StarLink system uses a wireless local network to mirror PC VR content from a presenter to up to 50 standalone headsets at the same time, and a separate central control system lets teachers push content to students' headsets during a lesson.[2] DPVR's P1 range page describes a multi-headset broadcasting feature for conferences, schools, showrooms and group tours, with real-time status updates from each headset and the headsets controlled from a central computer or tablet.[5]
Use in education and enterprise
The Lenovo VR Classroom Gen 3 package uses a DPVR P1 Pro customized for Lenovo, with the XR1 processor, 2560 x 1440 resolution, a 3DoF controller, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. DPVR's page for the package lists up to 3 hours of battery life for this configuration, sanitizable components, zero-touch device registration and content management, and two years of Lenovo support. The curated content includes material from Veative, Wild Immersion and Uptale.[4]
In August 2022, Beenoculus, a Brazilian provider of XR hardware and software and DPVR's exclusive agent in South America, unveiled an all-in-one 3DoF headset built around the P1 Pro at the 5G Summit Brazil in São Paulo. Auganix reported that the device uses the Snapdragon XR1 with an Adreno 615 GPU, has a 100-degree field of view and was offered with a 2.5K or 4K display. Beenoculus positioned it as an entry-level headset for Brazilian developers and businesses.[10]
In April 2023, DPVR said that its P series all-in-one headsets were widely used in medical, education and training settings in China and had customers in many overseas markets.[11]
