The Rokid Glasses are AI smart glasses with a built-in display, developed by the Chinese company Rokid and unveiled at Rokid Jungle 2024 in Hangzhou on November 18, 2024.[1] They weigh 49 g and combine a monochrome green Micro-LED waveguide display for both eyes, a 12 MP camera, a Qualcomm AR1 processor and two speakers.[1][2] In China the AI assistant uses Alibaba's Tongyi Qianwen model; the international version can switch between several AI models.[1][3][4] The display shows translations, captions, navigation, teleprompter text and AI answers in the wearer's view.[2]
The glasses went on sale in China on September 1, 2025, at 3,299 yuan, and the international version shipped to Kickstarter backers from November 2025 with a planned retail price of US$599 ($479 early-bird).[5][3][6] In October 2026, Rokid's global online store listed the glasses at US$699 and sent buyers to the US retailer B&H Photo.[2] A second-generation model was shown in Hangzhou on September 24, 2026, and Rokid said it would launch at an event on October 27, 2026.[7][8]
History and development
Rokid unveiled the Rokid Glasses at Rokid Jungle 2024, an event in Hangzhou held on November 18, 2024, to mark the company's tenth anniversary. Rokid developed the glasses with the Chinese eyewear brand BOLON. At launch, Rokid said the glasses used diffraction waveguide imaging and integrated Alibaba's Tongyi Qianwen large language model for object recognition, language translation and calorie estimation.[1][9]
Release
At the November 2024 unveiling, Rokid announced a price of 2,499 yuan and availability in the second quarter of 2025.[9] The glasses went on sale in China on September 1, 2025, at 3,299 yuan rather than the announced 2,499 yuan; founder Misa Zhu said 40,000 units sold in the first five days.[5] By mid-November 2025, Rokid said it had delivered more than 200,000 units since orders opened on September 1, including about 50,000 shipped overseas, against an original plan of 100,000 to 150,000 units a year.[10]
The international version launched on Kickstarter on August 26, 2025, with a $479 early-backer tier and a planned retail price of $599; Rokid estimated shipping for November 2025.[3] The campaign raised $4,028,111 from more than 5,800 backers, and Rokid opened pre-orders on its own website on November 20, 2025.[11] Shipments to early Kickstarter backers had begun by November 21, 2025.[6] In April 2026, CNBC reported that Rokid's AI glasses had held first place in China's sales rankings for the previous three months, according to JD.com, that they retailed outside China for $599, and that Rokid's website listed shipping to countries including the United Kingdom and Canada but not the United States.[12]
Regional launches in 2026
Rokid entered Germany in April 2026, its first step into Europe, and announced French availability in June 2026 at VivaTech in Paris. Rokid said the glasses would be available in France for €799 through the Paris retailer Krys and through Fnac, Darty and Cdiscount.[13] In May 2026, eCommerceNews Australia reported that pre-orders through the local distributor 360 International Trading were priced at A$999, against a standard retail price of A$1,099.[14]
In Japan the glasses are sold as Rokid Smart AI Glasses. After a crowdfunding campaign on Makuake that raised 636,736,060 yen from 7,413 supporters, they went on general sale on July 10, 2026, at 109,990 yen including tax, through Rokid's online store, Amazon, Rakuten and 75 physical stores including Yodobashi Camera, Bic Camera and Edion.[15] On October 16, 2026, Rokid announced the opening of a self-service flagship store at Harbour City in Hong Kong's Tsim Sha Tsui district, where visitors can try the Rokid Glasses through self-directed demos and buy them at automated checkouts.[16]
In a September 28, 2026, press release, Rokid said a Counterpoint Research report ranked it first worldwide by shipment share in the "AR and AI Glasses" segment in the first half of 2026, with 41 percent of shipments in that category.[17] MIXED, which described the segment as AI glasses with a display, noted that the figure reached readers through Rokid rather than through a table published by Counterpoint, and that no unit counts were given.[18]
Second generation
On September 24, 2026, Rokid showed a second-generation model of the glasses at the Fifth Global Digital Trade Expo in Hangzhou.[19][7] Rokid describes it as display-equipped AI glasses with more performance and battery life and a lighter feel than the first model.[7] Reports from the expo listed a framing guide for the camera, improved stabilization and night shooting, two-way and phone-call translation with subtitles on the lenses, a customizable wake word, and black or tortoiseshell frames; the reports gave no figures for weight, battery life or display specifications.[20] The company said the model would be formally launched at its product event on October 27, 2026, when it would also announce sales plans.[8] Rokid kept its other changes confidential ahead of that event.[7]
Design and hardware
Display
The glasses have a binocular display. Rokid's specification describes the optical design as "1 Micro LED + waveguide" and lists a single green color, a 30-degree field of view, a resolution of 480 x 400 and a brightness of 1,500 nits.[2] Road to VR described dual micro-LED panels driving a monochrome green heads-up display.[3] Tom's Guide's review listed a 23-degree field of view and a resolution of 480 x 398.[21] Trusted Reviews noted that the active display areas show as two semi-transparent squares in the lenses that people nearby can see when they light up, and that the glasses have no automatic brightness adjustment.[22]
Processing and software
The main processor is the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1, with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage.[1][2] Road to VR reported that the glasses are built around two processors, the AR1 and an NXP RT600.[3] The glasses run Rokid's YodaOS and depend on a companion app for Android and iOS, which Trusted Reviews described as the brain of the glasses and which runs in the background on the phone.[22][23] Wireless connections are Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3, and the glasses include an IMU.[2]
Camera
The camera uses a 12 MP Sony IMX681 sensor with an f/2.25 aperture and a 109-degree lens. Rokid lists a photo resolution of 3024 x 4032 and video modes up to 3K at 30 frames per second in several aspect ratios.[2][3] Capture lights inside and outside the frame show when the camera is recording.[3] Trusted Reviews found that videos could be recorded for up to 10 minutes at a time.[22]
Audio
Two linear directional speakers sit in the temples, and a four-microphone array picks up voice for calls and AI commands. Rokid rates the glasses IPX4 for water resistance.[2] Road to VR reported wind-noise reduction for the microphones.[3]
Frame and prescription lenses
The frame weighs 49 g. Rokid lists a TR90 polymer frame with titanium alloy hinges, a temple length of 155.5 mm, a hinge-to-hinge width of 146.3 mm, a lens width of 49 mm and a frame height of 44.4 mm.[2] At launch Rokid said the glasses accept custom snap-on lenses for myopia and astigmatism.[1] The global store sells a clip-on titanium alloy prescription frame for US$39 that supports corrections from 0 to 1,600 degrees.[24] Tom's Guide reported that prescription lenses cost at least $120 and close to $200 with customization.[21]
Battery and charging
The glasses have a 210 mAh battery.[3][2] At the 2024 launch Rokid quoted up to four hours of continuous use, a 20-minute full charge through a magnetic dock and up to ten recharges from a charging case.[9][1] For the international version, the specifications reported by Road to VR gave 8 to 10 hours of mixed use, 5 to 6 hours of music playback, 2 hours with the display always on and 45 minutes of "intensive recording".[3] Rokid's current specification gives a charge to 80 percent in 20 minutes over the magnetic cable.[2] The glasses ship with a storage case and a magnetic charging cable; on Rokid's global store the charging case is a separate US$99 accessory with a 3,150 mAh battery that Rokid says provides more than ten full recharges.[25][22]
Reviewers reported shorter or similar figures. Pickr found 4 to 6 hours, usually close to 5, and Trusted Reviews about 8 hours of mixed use.[23][22] Tom's Guide drained the glasses in just under two hours of continuous meeting captioning but got a full day of casual use.[21] Trusted Reviews charged the glasses from empty to full in a little over half an hour.[22]
Software and features
Controls
The wearer speaks the wake phrase "Hi Rokid" or uses a touch strip on the right temple, where swipes and taps move through menus.[2][22] Tom's Guide reported a head nod to accept calls.[21]
Translation, captions and productivity
Rokid lists real-time translation for 89 languages and an interface in 13 languages.[2] In August 2025 Road to VR reported that five languages were available offline through Rokid's own language model; Trusted Reviews counted eight offline languages in June 2026.[3][22] Other functions are live captions, meeting transcription with speaker identification and summaries, a teleprompter, notifications and turn-by-turn navigation. Rokid says full navigation access requires a subscription.[2] Trusted Reviews found the navigation supported walking, cycling and driving directions with Google Maps.[22] Tom's Guide noted that paying with Alipay QR codes from the glasses was not widely available.[21]
Alibaba Tongyi Qianwen integration
The Chinese version uses Alibaba's Tongyi Qianwen model. At launch Rokid named real-time object recognition, language translation and calorie estimation as AI features, and TechNode also listed search, navigation and health reminders.[1][9]
International AI models
At the Kickstarter launch in August 2025, the international version used ChatGPT for AI voice queries.[3] On March 2, 2026, Rokid announced a software update for the international version of the Rokid Glasses that lets users switch between Google's Gemini, OpenAI's ChatGPT, DeepSeek and Alibaba's Qwen.[4] In an April 2026 review, Tom's Guide described choosing between Gemini and ChatGPT on the glasses and quoted a price of $599.[21] Users can also ask questions about what the camera sees.[22]

Related models
Rokid also sells the Rokid AI Glasses Style, a separate model without a display. It went on sale worldwide on January 19, 2026, from US$299, and weighs 38.5 grams.[26] Rokid's store lists it as "(Non-Display)".[27]
Reception
Before shipping, Road to VR's Scott Hayden wrote that the glasses "aren't actually augmented reality", despite Rokid's marketing of them as the "world's lightest full-function AI & AR glasses". He contrasted them with the audio-only Ray-Ban Meta glasses.[3]
Tom's Guide's Jason England gave the glasses an Editor's Choice award after two months of daily use. He praised the light, ordinary-looking frame, the bright display, the speakers and microphones, and the choice of AI models, and found them more fully featured than the Even Realities G2 and easier to wear than the Meta Ray-Ban Display. His criticisms were weak low-light photos, features such as Alipay payments that are not widely available, the extra cost of prescription lenses, and an iOS app that must keep running in the background.[21]
Trusted Reviews' Lewis Painter, reviewing the glasses at £639, praised the AI assistant, camera, navigation, and fast translation and transcription. He criticized the thick frame, shiny plastic that felt cheap, the way the glasses sat high on the face, and the magnetic charging cable, and concluded that he would not wear them out of the house.[22]
Pickr's Leigh Stark, reviewing the Australian release at A$999, liked the subtitles, the conversational AI and the fairly comfortable fit, but called the software "very buggy", citing repeated phone disconnections and misheard navigation destinations, and found the sound quality shallow.[23]
