Meta Starfire, sold officially as Meta Glasses by Kylie or the Meta Glasses, Starfire (Kylie Jenner Edition), is a model of smart glasses developed by Meta Platforms in partnership with EssilorLuxottica and designed in collaboration with media personality Kylie Jenner. It is the premium model of the Meta Glasses line, Meta's first self-branded artificial-intelligence glasses, which launched on June 23, 2026 and dropped the Ray-Ban and Oakley eyewear co-branding used on earlier Meta glasses.[1][2] Priced at $399, the Starfire is the most expensive of the three launch frames; the other two, the Meta Adventurer and the Meta Fury, each start at $299.[3][4]

The Starfire shares the same camera, audio, battery, and Meta AI platform as the rest of the Meta Glasses line, but is distinguished by a slim oval frame inspired by Jenner's personal style, an exclusive option to set Meta AI to speak in her voice, and a small gem set into the right lens.[5][6] Like the other Meta Glasses, it has no visual display and does not overlay digital content onto the wearer's view, focusing instead on hands-free capture, open-ear audio, and voice-driven AI assistance.[2]

Launch

Meta and EssilorLuxottica unveiled the Meta Glasses line, including the Starfire, on June 23, 2026, and made all three frames available the same day.[1][2] The launch marked the first time Meta sold AI glasses under its own brand rather than the Ray-Ban or Oakley names, although the company stated the products are still developed and made in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, which continues to handle manufacturing, lenses, and distribution.[1][4] Meta chief technology officer Andrew Bosworth framed the shift as a way to reach buyers at different price points, noting that with a co-branded Ray-Ban Wayfarer, the most popular style of glasses in the world, "you pay a premium for that" branding.[4]

The Starfire is Jenner's first venture into wearable technology and was promoted as part of a collection of 26 distinct frame, color, and lens styles released across the three models.[2][6] Coverage described the collaboration as an attempt by Meta to broaden the appeal of its glasses through a high-profile fashion partnership, and noted that the slim oval shape closely resembled the Gentle Monster glasses that Google had previewed at its developer conference earlier in 2026.[7]

Design

The Starfire uses a slim oval frame that several outlets compared to a cat-eye profile, a smaller and rounder shape than the rectangular Adventurer or the boxier Fury.[5][4] Meta describes the frame as inspired by Jenner's personal style.[2] It is offered in two colorways: Classic Black and Dark Tortoise.[8][6]

A small gem is affixed to the top right corner of the right lens, close to where the camera sits. Meta and Jenner pitched the detail as a nod to the paparazzi who follow her, describing the way it catches light as resembling flashes from cameras; reviewers noted the accent is subtle enough that it can be mistaken for a speck of dirt.[5][9] The adjustable nose bridge is made of metal rather than the materials used on the other models, a change reported to make it easier to wipe makeup off; the frame also includes three-way adjustable nose pads shared across the line.[5][6]

Lens choices for the Starfire include black and chocolate tints, as well as a Clear to Grey Transitions option that darkens outdoors under ultraviolet light and turns clear indoors; the Transitions lenses add about $80 to the price.[8][6] Prescription lenses are available through EssilorLuxottica.[2]

Hardware

Main article: Meta Glasses

The Starfire carries the same core hardware as the rest of the Meta Glasses line. It uses a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera capable of 3K video, a five-microphone array, and open-ear speakers built into the temples for music, calls, and AI responses.[5][9][10] The glasses do not include a display.[9]

Meta rates the glasses for over eight hours of battery life with typical use, with a folding charging case that supplies up to 40 additional hours on the go.[2][9] The frames carry an IPX4 rating for resistance to splashes.[9] Input is handled through a capture button and a capacitive touchpad on the temple, plus the "Hey Meta" voice command, and the glasses pair with the Meta AI companion app on iOS and Android, which is used to import and edit captured media, manage settings, and apply firmware updates.[5]

Software and Meta AI

The Meta Glasses are the first products to ship with Muse Spark, a Meta AI variant that Meta describes as the first model from its Meta Superintelligence Labs built specifically for its own devices rather than as a general-purpose chatbot.[2][5] Muse Spark answers spoken questions, can identify what the wearer is looking at through the camera, and performs live translation; at launch Meta added 14 new languages, including Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Arabic, and Hindi, bringing the total supported for live translation to 20.[2][5]

The Starfire's signature software feature is an exclusive option to set Jenner as the voice of Meta AI, so that she delivers spoken output ranging from onboarding instructions to the battery-life readout.[5][9] WWD reported that Jenner recorded custom phrases for the feature, including her well-known "rise and shine" greeting, and that the glasses play a sparkling chime when they are put on or taken off.[6] The Kylie voice option is available only on the Starfire model.[9]

Models and pricing

The Starfire sits at the top of the three-frame Meta Glasses line.

The Starfire is priced at $399 for either the Classic Black or Dark Tortoise frame, rising to about $479 with the Clear to Grey Transitions lenses.[8][6] Meta offers financing through Affirm from $33.25 per month at 0 percent annual percentage rate.[8]

Availability

The Starfire went on sale on June 23, 2026, through Meta.com, Best Buy, Sunglass Hut, and LensCrafters, alongside other select retailers and Amazon.[6][2] Meta listed availability across 17 countries at launch: the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Australia.[2] Each pair ships with the glasses, a charging case, and a getting-started guide.[8]

Reception

Early coverage treated the Starfire as the headline of the Meta Glasses launch, with reporting focusing on the celebrity tie-in and the move away from Ray-Ban branding rather than new hardware, since the camera, audio, and battery carry over from Meta's existing glasses.[4][3] Hands-on writers highlighted the metal nose bridge, the slim oval shape, and the optional Kylie voice as the model's defining touches, while describing the gem on the lens as a subtle accent and noting the frame's strong resemblance to other fashion-oriented smart glasses entering the market.[5][7]
