Compliance Made for Meta (Meta officially co-branded)

The KIWI Design RGB Vertical Charging Stand (model QC03) is a virtual reality accessory developed and manufactured by KIWI Design, a Chinese maker of third-party hardware for the Meta Quest family of headsets. Introduced in December 2023, it is a combined charging dock and display stand that holds a Meta Quest headset upright while recharging it through a magnetic USB Type-C connector, and provides storage rails for the headset's Touch controllers.[1][2] The product is compatible with the Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest 3S and Meta Quest Pro, and is distinguished by a ring of sixteen selectable RGB lighting effects around its base.[3][4]

The stand is part of KIWI Design's "Made for Meta" line and is marketed as an officially co-branded Meta accessory, meaning it has passed Meta's certification program for third-party hardware.[2] It launched at a typical retail price of around $59.99, with a manufacturer's suggested price of $79.99, and carries a 24-month warranty.[4]

Design

The QC03 uses a vertical layout intended to minimize the desk space a headset occupies compared with laying it flat. The headset sits at the top of an upright stem, with the controllers stored on rails to either side, so that the headset and controllers are displayed together as a single unit.[1][4] KIWI Design describes the base as weighted, placing the center of gravity low and adding a counterweight at the bottom to keep the loaded stand stable.[1] The unit is finished in a carbon gray and black colorway with smooth edges, and reviewers have generally described the construction as sturdy.[4][5]

A 180-degree adjustable controller holder and a flexible magnetic charging cable allow the same stand to fit the differing shapes of the Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S and Quest Pro, including newer Touch controllers that lack tracking rings.[1][5] The stand stands roughly 18 inches tall when assembled, a height some reviewers note can be bulky for smaller desks.[5]

Charging

Charging is handled through a magnetic USB Type-C connector that attaches to the headset's USB-C port. The magnetic head snaps the headset into place and removes the need to manually plug and unplug a cable each time, which KIWI Design markets under the name SPC (single-point charging).[5][2] The connector works whether or not an aftermarket head strap is fitted, and when paired with KIWI Design's SPC Battery Strap the dock can charge the headset and the battery strap at the same time through the single magnetic point of contact.[5][1]

The stand draws power from an external USB Type-C source rather than an internal battery, and its charge time therefore depends on the headset and power supply used.[1] A notable limitation reported across reviews is that the controller rails are for storage only: the QC03 displays the Touch controllers but does not charge them, so controllers must still be charged separately or fitted with rechargeable batteries.[4][5][2]

Lighting

The defining feature of the QC03 relative to plainer charging docks is its RGB lighting. A light strip encircling the base offers sixteen selectable effects and colors, which KIWI Design positions as a way to match the stand to a desk setup or room decor and to give the dock a more decorative, ambient presence.[1][4][5] The lighting is the basis for the "RGB" in the product's name and is the main point of differentiation from the company's non-illuminated docks.[2]

Reception

Reviews of the QC03 have generally been positive, praising the space-saving vertical form, the convenience of magnetic charging, and the organized presentation of headset and controllers together. The carbon gray finish and RGB lighting were highlighted as giving the dock a premium, modern look.[4][5] Outsider Gaming awarded the stand a 5 out of 5 rating, citing effortless charging and a sturdy, stable build.[4]

The most consistent criticisms concern value and scope. Reviewers point out that the stand does not charge the controllers, that no wall power adapter is necessarily included so users may need to supply their own USB power source, and that the price is on the higher side for a charging stand. Its height has also been noted as potentially too large for compact desks.[5][4]
