Dream Glass Lead Pro is an augmented reality head-mounted display released in 2022. It was developed by DreamWorld (Dreamworld USA Inc.), which sells its headsets under the Dream Glass brand, and is the higher-priced of the two versions of the Dream Glass Lead sold on the company's online store.[1] DreamWorld describes the Lead line as wireless "all-in-one" AR glasses: the headset has its own processor, memory, storage and battery, and it can also show content cast wirelessly from phones, tablets and computers.[2][3]

The Lead line was first offered through an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign in 2021.[4] Compared with the lower-priced model, the Lead Pro adds a 13-megapixel RGB camera and has more memory and storage, according to DreamWorld's specification sheet.[2]

Reviewed 27 September 2026. Checked the specification sheet, prices, FAQ claims, Indiegogo campaign data and the Electronics360/TechInsights teardown against archived copies of the cited pages. About review dates.

History

Crowdfunding

DreamWorld opened the Indiegogo campaign "DreamGlass Lead: World's 1st 200" 4K All-in-One AR" on 17 August 2021. The campaign was listed in Fremont, California, and had a funding goal of US$5,000. Its tagline promoted the glasses for fitness (Peloton), movies (YouTube and Netflix), Zoom, TikTok and Instagram.[4] At launch, the "DreamGlass Lead Pro Best Price" perk offered the Lead Pro for US$629 against a stated MSRP of US$1,199, with "SDK included" and estimated delivery in December 2021. A two-unit Lead Pro perk was priced at US$1,258.[4]

The campaign was first scheduled to close on 21 September 2021 and ended on 4 October 2021.[4][5] By 22 October 2021 the page showed US$281,654 raised from 374 contributions, with the Lead Pro "EarlyBird" perk at US$659.[5] An archived copy from October 2023 shows US$287,366 raised from 381 contributions, of which US$14,161 was collected after the campaign period. These totals cover both the Lead and the Lead Pro. By then the remaining Lead Pro perk cost US$1,120 against a stated MSRP of US$1,420, with an estimated delivery date of February 2022.[6]

Retail sales

In October 2022, DreamWorld's online store listed the Dream Glass Lead at US$799 and the Dream Glass Lead Pro at US$1,199.[2] The store also sold a US$400 "Set of Dream Glass Lead upgrade to Pro" for owners of the standard model.[3] In an archived copy from December 2024, the Lead Pro was still listed as in stock at a sale price of US$1,199, against a regular price of US$1,499.[1]

Models

DreamWorld's store names the two models "Dream Glass Lead" and "Dream Glass Lead Pro", while its specification sheet compares the "Dream Glass Lead Plus" with the Lead Pro.[2] The company's FAQ says the Lead Pro has all of the standard model's entertainment functions plus features for development and enterprise use, "such as 6DOF tracking and Unity SDK", and a more powerful processor.[1] The specification sheet published on the same product page lists the same CPU and GPU, the same optional 6DoF tracking set and a Unity SDK for both models. It gives the Lead Pro 4 GB of memory instead of 3 GB, 64 GB of storage instead of 32 GB, a 13-megapixel RGB camera that the other model lacks, and a weight of 330 g instead of 320 g.[2]

Hardware

Display and optics

The Lead Pro has a 90-degree field of view and a resolution that DreamWorld gives as "4K, 1920*1080*2 Two Eyes Combined", or 1920x1080 per eye. It plays 2D, 3D and 360-degree video.[2] DreamWorld markets the image as a virtual 200-inch display.[1]

According to DreamWorld, the headset has enough eye relief to be worn over prescription glasses. The company says its optics place digital content "at meters away" and use more than 10 layers of optical coatings to reduce blue light and glare.[1] DreamWorld sold a replacement "AR Lens" for US$49 that fits the Lead Plus, Lead Pro, 4K, 4K Plus and Air models.[7]

Processing and components

DreamWorld's specification sheet lists an octa-core Kryo CPU (2 x 2.52 GHz + 6 x 1.7 GHz), an Adreno 615 GPU, 4 GB of LPDDR4 memory and 64 GB of storage for the Lead Pro.[2]

In January 2023, Electronics360 published a teardown by TechInsights of a headset it identified as the Dream Glass Lead Pro. The main board held a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 applications processor and a Samsung multichip memory module combining 3 GB of LPDDR4 SDRAM, 32 GB of MLC NAND flash and a memory controller. (DreamWorld's own sheet lists 4 GB and 64 GB for the Lead Pro.) The teardown summary gave the headset's price as US$1,499 and its release date as January 2022. Other components on the main board included a six-axis MEMS gyroscope and accelerometer from TDK-InvenSense, a three-axis electronic compass from AKM, AWINIC audio amplifiers and RGB LED drivers, and a 5 GHz Wi-Fi front-end module.[8]

The teardown also covered the separate controller. Its touchpad board uses a capacitive touchpad controller from Melfas, and its controller board carries a TDK-InvenSense six-axis gyroscope and accelerometer, a three-axis magnetic sensor from iSentek and a Beken Bluetooth 5.0 system-on-chip.[8] TechInsights' manufacturing cost breakdown was:[8]

Category Estimated cost (US$)
Integrated circuits 57.43
Display subsystem 23.24
Modules, discretes and connectors 14.24
Non-electric parts 11.32
Other subsystems 9.73
Camera subsystem 9.54
Battery subsystem 7.12
Substrates 5.88
Component insertion 4.60
Final assembly and test 2.74
Card test 1.51

Tracking and input

The Lead Pro has 3DoF head tracking and comes with a wireless 3DoF controller. A 6DoF tracking set is optional.[2] DreamWorld says that with the wireless 6DoF tracking set the Lead Pro can run games, and that "Steam 3D games such as Beat Saber are supported".[1]

Audio, battery and design

The headset has built-in speakers, a built-in microphone, a 3.5 mm audio jack and Bluetooth audio. Wireless connectivity is dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n/ac) and Bluetooth 5.0.[2] It uses a USB Type-C connector.[1]

The 5300 mAh lithium battery sits in a rear unit at the back of the head. DreamWorld rates it at about 3.5 hours of continuous use.[2][1] The Lead Pro weighs 330 g, of which the front part is 180 g and the rear battery part 150 g; the FAQ gives the weight as 11.6 oz and says the battery placement balances the weight between front and back.[2][1]

Software and uses

DreamWorld provides a Unity SDK for the Lead line.[2] The company says the headset accepts wireless casting from Android devices, iPads, iPhones, Macs and PCs, and lists support for apps such as YouTube, Netflix, TikTok and Facebook, the fitness apps Peloton and Keep, and the meeting apps Zoom, Skype and Messenger. On the product page, DreamWorld also describes loading 3D models such as STL files for design review, recommending the Lead Pro for that task, and using the RGB camera to share a view of a work site for remote assistance.[1]
