Dream Glass Flow is an augmented reality head-mounted display released in 2022. It is a pair of tethered display glasses sold under the Dream Glass brand of Dreamworld USA Inc., a company based in Fremont, California.[1][2] The glasses weigh 59 g (2 oz) and use two Micro-OLED panels with a combined resolution of 3840 x 1080, or 1920 x 1080 per eye. Dream Glass describes the image as a virtual screen of 120 inches at 4 meters.[2]
Dream Glass marketed the Flow for gaming and video. The glasses take a video signal from consoles, PCs, handheld game systems, phones and tablets, or from an optional battery-powered "Cloud Computation Box" that runs streaming, remote play and cloud gaming apps.[2][3] The product was first funded through a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo in September and October 2022.[4]
History
Announcement and crowdfunding
Dream Glass announced the Flow in a press release dated 17 September 2022 and headlined "Dream Glass Launches World's Lightest Gaming AR Glass with Wi-Fi 6". The release said the company had been founded in Silicon Valley in 2016 and had shipped more than 15,000 AR headsets worldwide.[1] At the time, the company's online store also sold the Dream Glass 4K, Dream Glass 4K Plus, Dream Glass Lead and Dream Glass Lead Pro headsets.[2]
The Indiegogo campaign, titled "Dream Glass Flow: Your Secret Gaming Room", opened on 22 September 2022 and closed on 30 October 2022. It had a funding goal of US$10,000 and listed Fremont, California as its location.[4] In its launch coverage, Geeky Gadgets reported early backer pledges of roughly US$379, about 39 percent below the recommended retail price, and an expected shipping date around November 2022, subject to the campaign's success and production progress.[3] An April 2025 copy of the campaign page showed US$229,091 raised from 436 backers, and gave the product stage as "shipping".[4]
Retail sales
By November 2022, Dream Glass was selling the Flow in four bundles through its own online store.[2] The bundles and prices listed on the store were:
| Bundle | Contents | Regular price | Sale price, November 2022 | Sale price, January 2024 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flow HDMI Set | Glasses and HDMI adapter | US$629 | US$449 | US$389 |
| Flow Cloud Set | Glasses and Cloud Computation Box | US$799 | US$549 | US$509 |
| Flow Ultimate Set | Glasses, HDMI adapter, Cloud Computation Box (4+128GB), EVA carrying bag and short wire earphone | US$999 (November 2022); US$1,299 (January 2024) | US$619 | US$569 |
| Flow Ultimate Double Set | Includes an HDMI splitter for connecting two pairs of Flow glasses to one console | US$2,023 | US$1,188 | Not listed |
The prices come from archived copies of the Dream Glass store taken on 29 November 2022 and 19 January 2024.[2][5] In January 2025, the store sold the Cloud Computation Box separately in "2+32GB" and "4+96GB" versions for US$149 and US$199 (regular prices US$240 and US$398), with the note "The new version has an HDMI port."[6][7] Other accessories listed for the Flow included a Type-C hub, a portable hub for the Nintendo Switch, an iPhone and iPad hub with a Lightning connector, an HDMI splitter, a magnetic lens frame and a casting bag with a power bank.[2][6]
Design and hardware
Glasses
The Flow is shaped like a pair of sunglasses.[2] Dream Glass lists the following specifications for the glasses:[2]
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Weight | 2 oz / 59 g |
| Screen type | Micro OLED |
| Resolution | 3840 x 1080 (1920 x 1080 per eye) |
| Field of view | 43° |
| Pixel density | 4496 pixels per inch (manufacturer figure) |
| Virtual screen size | 120 inches at 4 meters |
| Sound | Stereo speakers and 3.5 mm headphone jack |
| Vision correction | 0-5 D myopia, adjustable on the glasses |
The two speakers sit inside the temples and point toward the ears. Wired and Bluetooth headphones are also supported.[2] Pressing a button on the left temple switches the display to a stereoscopic 3D mode, and Dream Glass said it provides an SDK for developers who want to create 3D and 360-degree content.[2]
Knobs on top of the frame adjust each lens separately for near-sightedness from 0 to -5.00 diopters. For stronger prescriptions or astigmatism, the company said the glasses can be worn over prescription glasses, or used with an optional prescription frame that attaches magnetically.[2][8] According to the company's FAQ, bright sunlight makes the image hard to see, so the glasses ship with a black light-proof cover that darkens the background.[8]
Connections
The glasses connect to a video source through an adapter cable with HDMI and USB plugs. Dream Glass's compatibility charts show three wired set-ups:[2]
- HDMI output from devices such as PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Mac, a Nintendo Switch in its dock or a TV set-top box, using the included adapter.
- USB Type-C DisplayPort output from handhelds such as the Steam Deck, MacBooks and Samsung phones and tablets, through a Type-C hub.
- iPhone and iPad models with a Lightning port, through an iPhone hub.
A Nintendo Switch used away from its dock needs the separate Switch hub, and streaming sticks such as Chromecast, Fire TV Stick and Roku need the casting bag.[2]
Cloud Computation Box
The Cloud Computation Box is an optional companion unit, included in the Cloud and Ultimate bundles, that runs apps and provides a wireless connection. Dream Glass lists the following specifications:[2]
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Size | 143 x 60 x 22 mm |
| CPU | Quad core CPU 1.9GHz + 850MHz GPU (12nm) |
| RAM | 2 GB or 4 GB |
| Storage | 32 GB or 128 GB |
| Battery | 8000 mAh |
| Battery life | 6 hours |
| Wi-Fi | Up to 2400 Mbps with Wi-Fi 6 and 2x2 MIMO |
| Bluetooth | 5.0 |
| Other | Air mouse, microphone |
The company's FAQ gives the box's battery life as 6-7 hours on one charge.[8] In a reply to a customer review on its store, Dream Glass said the product runs the Android operating system and does not natively support iOS apps.[5] Dream Glass also described the Flow as compatible with a 5G mobile hotspot.[2][1]
Software and uses
Dream Glass promoted the Flow for three main uses: remote play from a home console or PC, cloud gaming, and video streaming.[2] The company named PS Remote Play and the Xbox app for remote play, and GeForce Now, Xbox Game Pass and Parsec as supported cloud gaming services.[2] The launch press release also listed Shadow.[1] For handheld consoles such as the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck, the company advertised the Flow as a way to enlarge a 7-inch handheld screen to a 120-inch virtual display.[2][3]
According to the FAQ, the operating system on the Cloud Computation Box supports video services including Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, HBO Max, Prime Video and Twitch. The glasses can also show video from a phone, PC or Mac, or from a Chromecast or Fire TV device.[8] With the HDMI splitter, two pairs of glasses can show the same console game or film for two people.[2]
Dream Glass said the wearer stays aware of the real surroundings while using the glasses, and that the virtual screen can be minimized to a corner of the view when the wearer moves around.[2]
