QWR VRone is a virtual reality head-mounted display released in 2020. It is a standalone headset from the Indian company QWR (Question What's Real), built around the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 chipset with 3DoF rotational tracking and a 3DoF handheld controller.[1][2]

QWR sold the VRone alongside a higher-priced variant, the QWR VRone 4K. The two models share the same chipset and storage, and differ in display and memory: the VRone has a 2.5K display and 2 GB of RAM, while the VRone 4K has a 4K HDR display and 3 GB of RAM.[1][2] QWR announced both headsets for launch in India on 20 August 2020 and said that deliveries would begin at the end of September 2020.[3]

Reviewed 27 September 2026. Checked every spec, price, date and launch detail against the archived QWR product, specifications (2021 and 2023) and support pages, the 2026 QWR VRone family page, the BW Businessworld July 2020 report and the VR/AR Association August 2020 post. About review dates.

History

In July 2020, BW Businessworld reported that QWR, which it described as a Mumbai-based tech startup, planned to bring its AR and VR products to the Indian market at competitive prices to make them affordable for mass adoption. The report named the VRone as a VR headset powered by the Snapdragon XR1 with a 70 Hz refresh rate, Bluetooth 4.2 and a 3DoF control system.[4]

On 10 August 2020 the VR/AR Association, of which QWR was a member, published QWR's announcement that the VRone and VRone 4K would launch in India on 20 August. The announcement described the VRone as an indigenously made, cable-free, all-in-one headset and said deliveries would start at the end of September 2020. It also offered the VRone 4K to Indian VR/AR Association members at a special price before the consumer launch.[3]

QWR's product page, as captured in January 2021, listed the VRone at ₹25,999 and the VRone 4K at ₹30,999. The page named Flipkart and other retailers as additional places to buy the headsets.[1] By August 2026, QWR's website described a VRone family of four models, the VRone Edu, VRone Pro, VRone 4K and VRone PC; the original VRone was not among them. The 2026 VRone 4K on that list is a different product, with a Micro-OLED display and a Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset.[5]

Hardware

Display and processing

According to QWR's specifications page, the VRone has a 6-inch 2.5K display with a 110-degree field of view. The same page gives a refresh rate of 72 Hz, while the product page and QWR's launch announcement give 70 Hz.[2][1][3] QWR does not publish the panel's pixel count.[2]

The headset uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 platform with an Adreno 615 GPU clocked at 750 MHz. QWR lists 2 GB of LPDDR5 memory and 32 GB of internal storage, expandable up to 256 GB with a microSD card.[2] Its operating system is based on Android.[1]

Tracking and input

The VRone has non-positional 3DoF tracking, which follows head rotation but not movement through space. One 3DoF Bluetooth controller ships with each headset and is used as a pointer.[1][6] The May 2021 version of the specifications page also listed support for 6DoF controllers from NOLO and for Leap Motion and USB cameras for hand tracking.[2] These two lines no longer appeared in the June 2023 version of the page.[7] The product page states that other input devices, such as speakers, controllers and keyboards, can be connected over Bluetooth 4.2.[1]

The listed sensors are a gravity sensor, compass, gyroscope, optical sensor and distance sensor.[2]

Audio, battery and connectivity

Sound comes from left and right dual tweeters, and the headset has a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It charges over Micro USB, has IEEE 802.11ac Wi-Fi and a 4000 mAh battery. QWR gives the dimensions as 180 x 100 x 100 mm and the weight as 398 grams. The headset was offered in Classic Black and Space Blue finishes.[2]

According to QWR's support page, the box contains the headset, the 3DoF Bluetooth controller, a charger, a USB cable, instructions, a lens cleaning cloth and a head strap.[6]

Software and content

QWR marketed the VRone for entertainment and gaming, and its launch material listed uses including games, films, TV shows, education, animations and shopping. The product page also advertised a QWR App Store.[1][4] In its launch material, the company said the headset came with gaming content and films, TV shows and animations from Viveport and VeeR TV. The two announcements gave different figures for the amount of gaming content: more than 10,000 hours in the BW Businessworld report and more than 5,000 hours in the VR/AR Association post.[4][3]

QWR also said that the VRone was certified by TÜV Rheinland for eye comfort.[3][4]
