Out of Sight VR is a virtual reality horror puzzle adventure game developed by Flat2VR Studios and The Gang and published by Flat2VR Studios and Starbreeze. It is the VR adaptation of Out of Sight, a flatscreen game by The Gang. The player sees the world through the eyes of a teddy bear carried by Sophie, a blind girl lost in a mansion, and guides her past her captors from this "second-person" viewpoint.[1][2]

The game launched in Early Access on Steam for PC VR headsets on 22 May 2025, the same day as the flatscreen release, priced at US$24.99.[3][4] Versions for PlayStation VR2 and Meta Quest were first planned for late 2025 and slipped. At the VR Games Showcase in August 2026 they were listed for holiday 2026 on PlayStation VR2 and 2027 on Meta Quest.[5][6]

Gameplay

Sophie cannot see, so the player acts as her teddy bear, Teddy, and views the mansion from the bear's position while directing her movements.[1][7] The player can ask Sophie to set the bear down on marked blankets; the view then stays at that spot, and from there the player directs her through environmental puzzles.[6][8] UploadVR described puzzles such as pushing wheeled blocks onto pressure plates and climbing structures to pull levers.[7] The player has to keep Sophie hidden from the captors who hunt her through the house, and according to the Steam description the player also uncovers "the tragic history buried within the mansion's walls".[1][2]

Some sequences take the bear away from Sophie. In these chase segments the player guides her from a greater distance.[3] The Steam description refers to "perspective-shifting chase sequences" and "second-perspective puzzles".[1]

In the Early Access version reviewed by UploadVR, movement used artificial stick-based locomotion, with a choice of smooth or snap turning and adjustable vignetting strength. The reviewer noted that the player could move Teddy's arms with tracked controllers, but that this had no effect on gameplay.[8] UploadVR estimated a complete playthrough at about three hours.[8]

Development

Out of Sight was developed by The Gang, a studio that had previously made branded digital experiences and the Roblox game Strongman Simulator.[9] Starbreeze announced a publishing partnership with The Gang on 6 February 2025; the game had earlier been known as Unseen.[9] On 27 March 2025, Starbreeze set the flatscreen release for 22 May 2025 on Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch, with the VR version launching on Steam at the same time.[10]

The VR adaptation is by Flat2VR Studios, which converts existing flatscreen games for VR.[10] The Steam copyright line credits Impact Reality, Inc d/b/a Flat2VR Studios together with Starbreeze Entertainment and The Gang.[1] Out of Sight VR was announced for PlayStation VR2 on 11 March 2025 in a PlayStation Blog post covering several Flat2VR Studios titles, alongside Roboquest VR and Surviving Mars: Pioneer.[2] The studio's earlier ports include Trombone Champ: Unflattened.[7]

The developers call the Steam release a "VR port of Out of Sight" and say that the Early Access build already contains all of the original game's content. They plan to add "re-imagined control modes" that use motion controls more fully, more accessibility and comfort options, and performance improvements for lower-end VR-ready PCs, and state that the price will stay the same after Early Access.[1] UploadVR's launch report also mentioned planned audio improvements.[3]

PlayStation VR2 Announced Holiday 2026[5][6]
Meta Quest Announced, pre-orders open 2027 per the August 2026 showcase; store page says fall 2026[5][11]

Starbreeze's launch announcement listed the game, including the Steam VR version, at $24.99, €24.99 and £20.99.[4] At launch, the Quest and PlayStation VR2 editions were planned for the fourth quarter of 2025, the same window the developers gave for leaving Early Access.[3][1] In November 2025, Spanish site Realovirtual reported that both console editions had moved to 2026 and that the Steam version would probably leave Early Access around the same time.[12]

At the VR Games Showcase on 13 August 2026, the game was listed as available now on SteamVR, coming to PlayStation VR2 in holiday 2026 and to Meta Quest in 2027.[5] UploadVR reported the Quest window as early 2027 and noted that the projected Q4 2025 end of Early Access had passed.[6] As of 29 September 2026, the Meta Horizon Store listing shows the game as "Coming Fall 2026" with pre-orders open and gives its genres as Adventure, Survival and Narrative.[11] The PlayStation Store lists the PlayStation VR2 version, published by Impact Reality, Inc., as announced without a date.[13]

The Steam version supports OpenXR headsets and tracked motion controllers and lists 12 languages, with full audio in English. Minimum requirements are Windows 10, 8 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card, and the game includes 22 Steam achievements.[1]

Reception

UploadVR published an unscored review-in-progress of the Early Access build on 30 May 2025, playing on a Meta Quest 3 through Virtual Desktop. James Galizio called the second-person perspective a good fit for VR and praised the atmosphere and puzzle design. He wrote that the game "doesn't quite feel as seamlessly VR as a game built from the ground up may feel" and that many areas looked similar. His summary was that "the current state of the game is still quite good, and very enjoyable", with a scored review promised for the 1.0 release.[8] As of 29 September 2026, Steam shows a "Positive" user rating, with 95% of 48 reviews positive.[1]
