Mortal Blitz is a first-person gun shooting game for virtual reality, developed and published by Skonec Entertainment. The Windows version was released on Steam on July 19, 2017, as a VR-only title that supports tracked controllers and lists SteamVR or Oculus PC headsets in its requirements.[1] The game had earlier appeared on PlayStation VR, with OpenCritic giving a release date of April 4, 2017 for that version.[2] It is still listed on Steam as of October 2026.

Overview

Mortal Blitz adapts the arcade light gun genre to VR. The player takes the role of Yuhei, a former member of the government elite unit F.O.R.C.E., whose mission is to thwart the Dominion's Teratoma Destruction Plan.[1] Steam describes three main systems: a dual aiming system that lets the player fight with two weapons at once, the Anti-Gravity Control System (A.G.C.S.), which allows interaction with nearby objects through psychokinetic powers, and the Groggy Finish System, in which enemies left in a groggy state are pulled into slow-motion, in-air shots. A training mode with a range of shooting mini-games is also included.[1]

UploadVR, reviewing the PlayStation VR release in April 2017, described the game as a first-person on-rails shooter played with two Move controllers, with cover mechanics and a campaign of about one to two hours over five missions.[3] That review covers the console version, and its details on controls and length may not match the Steam release.

Reception

OpenCritic lists a top critic average of 64 for the console release, based on five reviews, with Push Square scoring it 5/10, TechRaptor 6.5/10 and ThisGenGaming 7/10.[2] UploadVR called it "effectively Time Crisis in VR", a fun but simple and dated shooter.[3] As of October 2026, Steam user reviews were rated Mostly Positive (54 of 75 reviews positive).[1]
