InCell (listed on Steam as InCell VR) is a single-player arcade racing game with light strategy elements, set inside a human cell. It was made by Nival VR, the virtual reality team of the Russian developer Nival, and released on Steam on September 3, 2015, with support for the Oculus Rift.[1][2] Nival VR was later renamed Luden.io, which is now listed as both developer and publisher on the Steam page, where the game is free to play.[1][3]

Overview

The player pilots along cylindrical tracks modeled on structures inside a cell, picking up proteins and speed boosts and dodging barriers while a virus advances behind them. A run ends at the cell's nucleus, and the player must get there first. Between races the player picks the next organelle to visit, and some stops grant upgrades. Steam states that the arrangement of organelles changes with each launch and that harder difficulty settings can be unlocked.[1] A sarcastic robot assistant narrates the trip and gives short introductions to what each organelle does.[1]

In VR the player steers by tilting the head, and the game can also be played on a regular screen with keyboard or gamepad.[1][2] The Steam page lists SteamVR or Oculus PC support and full controller support, and notes that the Mac and Linux versions do not support VR.[1] The developer's site lists versions for several other platforms, including Gear VR and mobile devices.[4]

Reception

At launch, Road to VR described InCell as a game with educational elements rather than a purely educational one, and called it short but rewarding.[2] UploadVR praised the visuals but found the racing relatively ordinary and the facts sparse and not clearly tied to gameplay, and noted tracking drift.[5] Steam user reviews were rated Mixed as of October 2026, with 198 of 289 reviews positive.[6]
