HoloBall is a VR paddle sports game for Windows in which the player hits a ball back and forth against an opponent in a neon arena. It was developed and published by TreeFortress Games and released on Steam on 25 April 2016.[1] The Steam page lists SteamVR and Oculus PC headsets with tracked controllers, and the game is VR only.[1] A PlayStation VR version using PlayStation Move controllers was released on 22 November 2016.[2]

Reviewed 9 October 2026. Checked title, developer, publisher, release date, VR support, languages, play area and review count against the Steam page and API, and the review and PS VR release claims against UploadVR About review dates.

Overview

The player holds a paddle in each hand and uses it to return a ball toward an AI opponent, scoring when the ball gets past the other side. Steam describes the game as an arcade sports title inspired by classic video game table tennis, with physics-based ball handling and skill shots that curve or smash the ball.[1] The Steam listing also includes a second-player mode in which a person takes over the AI opponent's paddle, leaderboards, and a spectator mode for people who record or stream play.[1] Steam lists the supported interface languages as English, German, Japanese and Simplified Chinese.[1]

The Steam minimum requirements call for a room-scale area of 2 m by 1.5 m.[1] UploadVR described the setting as an 80s, retro-futuristic arena similar to Tron, with an AI opponent that talks to the player, and noted that the game adapts to the available play space and that larger areas make it more physically demanding, including lunging for corner shots.[3]

Reception

UploadVR reviewed the Vive and PlayStation VR versions in December 2016, calling the game "polished, simple, and fun" and describing it as a modern take on table tennis; the review did not give a numeric score.[3] Steam user reviews were rated Very Positive as of October 2026, based on 463 reviews.[1]
