AjnaLens AjnaX is an augmented reality head-mounted display launched in 2021. It is a pair of lightweight AR glasses developed by the Indian company AjnaLens, which marketed it as "India's First Enterprise-Grade AR Glasses".[1] AjnaLens announced the glasses on 18 August 2021 together with AjnaSuite, its XR software for remote collaboration, step-by-step AR training and 3D product visualization.[2][3]

According to AjnaLens, the glasses weigh 95 grams, have a 50-degree field of view that can place a virtual 200-inch screen a few feet in front of the wearer, and track head movement with a three-degree-of-freedom inertial sensor.[1] They were aimed at businesses rather than consumers; at launch, companies could register on the AjnaLens website to run pilots.[2]

Reviewed 27 September 2026. Checked the specifications, tagline, design and box contents against the archived official AjnaX page, the launch date, company background, Patil quote, pilot registration and AjnaSuite features against the Business Wire India release on The Week and DQ Week, and the current lineup against the AjnaLens products page. About review dates.

Announcement and release

AjnaLens is a Mumbai-based XR hardware and software company that, according to its 2021 launch announcement, grew out of work at IIT Bombay in late 2014 and worked mainly for the defence, enterprise and training sectors.[2] The AjnaX launch announcement was distributed by Business Wire India on 18 August 2021. It presented the glasses and AjnaSuite as a combined product for companies whose training, remote servicing and product demonstrations had been disrupted by travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic.[2][3]

Abhijit Patil, AjnaLens' co-founder and chief operating officer, said at the launch: "The workplace of the future is no longer a swanky office, but a collaborative environment - both virtual and physical."[2] The announcement did not give a price or retail availability. Instead, it invited businesses to register on the AjnaLens enterprise page and conduct pilots at their organizations.[2] The AjnaX product page at the time offered "Get Early Access" sign-ups.[1]

Design and hardware

AjnaLens described the AjnaX as ultra-slim, portable and pocketable glasses with nose pads for comfort during long working days. The box contained the glasses, nose pads, a cleaning cloth and a user guide.[1]

Display

The company advertised the display as having three times the nits (brightness) of "a standard AR Glasses". It gave the field of view as 50 degrees and said this was enough to superimpose a 200-inch virtual screen on the real-world environment a few feet away.[1] These figures are manufacturer claims.

Sensors and tracking

Head movement is tracked with a three-degree-of-freedom (3DoF) inertial measurement unit that AjnaLens listed as combining a gyroscope, an accelerometer and a compass. A proximity sensor detects whether the glasses are being worn and switches the display on or off, and an ambient light sensor adjusts brightness automatically to the lighting in the room.[1] AjnaLens did not list cameras or positional (six-degree-of-freedom) tracking for the glasses.[1]

Audio and connectivity

The glasses have built-in audio and dual microphones for hands-free calls.[1] AjnaLens said a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse could be paired with the glasses, and that the included USB-C cable could be used to extend the screens of a laptop into the glasses.[1]

Software and features

AjnaLens presented AjnaX as a hardware and software package together with AjnaSuite, the company's XR software.[2] The launch announcement described these features:[2][3]

  • Holographic collaboration and remote assistance: experts and field technicians in different locations work on the same issue, which AjnaLens said cut the time to resolve problems remotely from a few hours to a few minutes.
  • AR-based training and operations: employees receive holographic step-by-step guidance, and a drag-and-drop creator lets organizations without AR experience build complex workflows without programming.
  • 3D holographic visualization: sales representatives show 3D holograms of large or complex products at a client's workspace instead of carrying the physical product.

On the AjnaX product page, AjnaLens also described a personal workspace mode, with multiple windows, browser tabs, sticky notes and 3D holograms placed around the wearer.[1]

Current status

As of September 2026, the AjnaX no longer appears in AjnaLens' product lineup. The company's products page lists AjnaXR Enterprise, AjnaAI Smart Glasses and AjnaAR Glasses.[4] The company's later mixed reality headset is covered in AjnaLens AjnaXR.
