vRhythm is a virtual reality drumming rhythm game developed and published by Pixelpointer Studios. It was released on Steam in Early Access on September 7, 2017, for Windows and the HTC Vive through SteamVR.[1][2] The developer announced on January 2, 2021, that the game would no longer be updated; it was subsequently delisted from the Steam store, though existing owners retain access through their Steam library.[3][1]

Gameplay

In vRhythm the player drums along to notes synced with the music, using the HTC Vive's tracked motion controllers. The game can be played either seated or standing.[1][2]

Every song's notes are placed by hand so that they line up with the music. The game also supports importing charts from the rhythm games osu!mania and StepMania, which the developer noted gives access to a large library of existing songs.[1] In community discussion, the developer noted that StepMania "pad" packs work better than keyboard packs, because keyboard packs use all of the drums at the same time.[4]

User-created songs and beatmaps can be shared and downloaded through Steam Workshop.[1] The game records both global and local high scores, allowing players to compare scores online or among friends.[1][2]

Reception

SteamSpy estimated the game's ownership in a range of up to roughly 20,000 accounts.[2]
