VRSailing by BeTomorrow is a free sailing simulation for SteamVR, developed and published by BeTomorrow and designed for the HTC Vive with its tracked motion controllers.[1] It was released on Steam for Windows on 12 January 2017.[1] The game is also distributed through itch.io on a "name your own price" basis.[2]
Overview
The player sails a boat on a simulated water surface and can choose between three weather conditions: day, night and storm.[1] The Steam page says the Vive controllers are used to interact with the ship, and lists simulated wind, sail and boat movement among its features.[1] It states that the game has no in-game purchases.[1]
The developer describes a camera implementation and a "cockpit effect" intended to reduce motion sickness.[1] The Steam listing specifies SteamVR with a standing or room-scale play area and requires a Vive headset with hand controllers.[1] The itch.io listing gives the download as a 42 MB archive and an average session length of about half an hour.[2]
