The Purge Day is a first-person horror shooter for virtual reality, developed and published by Red Limb Studio. It was released on Steam for Windows in November 2016.^[1] The Steam listing marks it as VR only and gives SteamVR or Oculus PC as the VR support requirement.^[1] It is also listed on the Meta Store as a game for the Oculus Rift.^[2]

Overview

The game is a single-player campaign in which the player takes the role of Jack Bowman, who is trying to rescue his wife after an unexplained event has nearly ended civilization. The setting is an Asian urban area overrun by an alien swarm.^[1] The player chooses from a selection of weapons and fights through chapters, each of which ends with a boss fight.^[1]

The store page lists Steam Achievements, Steam Trading Cards and tracked controller support, and the developer's description says the game is designed to avoid motion sickness.^[1]

Reception

Steam user reviews were rated Mixed as of October 2026, with 69 percent of 43 reviews positive.^[1] The Steam page also quotes outlets including VR Games For, which gave it an Impressive Award, and The VR Shop, which called the action fast and the immersion at times terrifying.^[1]
