TQSKY T1 is an augmented reality head-mounted display released in 2022. It is a pair of tethered display glasses made by the Shenzhen company TQSKY, which calls the product category "audio-visual glasses". The T1 shows the video output of a phone, tablet, computer, game console or drone on a virtual screen that the company describes as equivalent to a 150-inch display viewed from 3.5 meters. It cannot play video by itself and depends on the connected source device.

The glasses were crowdfunded on Kickstarter in July and August 2022 and entered mass production at the end of November 2022. The T1 was TQSKY's first product. Its founder and chief executive, Wang Jie, had earlier founded the Chinese VR headset maker 3Glasses.

Announcement and release

TQSKY (Shenzhen Tianqu Xingkong Technology Co., Ltd., 深圳市天趣星空科技有限公司) was founded in January 2022. The company announced the T1 in a press release on 7 July 2022, the day its Kickstarter campaign opened. The campaign was run from Singapore with a funding goal of S$28,000 and a deadline of 7 August 2022. In its launch coverage, the Chinese technology site GeekPark reported that the campaign reached its goal within three hours of going live, and that TQSKY planned to start selling the T1 in China in August 2022. The campaign closed as successful with 699 backers and S$448,574 pledged.

Kickstarter reward tiers listed an estimated delivery date of October 2022. The lowest "Super Early Bird" tier, about US$469 for one pair of glasses with the T-Box, was described as 32% off an MSRP of US$699; the "Early Bird" tier was about US$599. TQSKY's launch press release gave different figures, describing the US$469 price as 33% off an original price of US$799. Notebookcheck reported the entry price as about 466 euros.

In a February 2023 interview, Wang Jie said the T1 had entered mass production at the end of November 2022 and was aimed at mid-range and high-end consumers, mainly for entertainment. A TQSKY press release from the same month also stated that the T1 launched and entered mass production at the end of 2022. The Chinese VR outlet 93913 gave the T1's price in China as 3,999 yuan in March 2023.

Before Mobile World Congress 2023, TQSKY said it had partnered with a mobile phone maker on a smart-glasses product based on its "Powered by TQSKY" solution. During the show, ZTE's Nubia brand introduced the Nubia Neovision Glass, developed in collaboration with TQSKY. Its listed specifications match the T1's headline display figures: binocular 1080p resolution, 3,500 PPI, 1,800 nits maximum brightness and a 43-degree field of view.

The later TQSKY lineup includes the T1S and the T2 alongside the T1. An archived copy of TQSKY's US online store from March 2026 lists the T1 with T-Box at a sale price of US$399 (regular price US$429). The glasses were offered with or without the T-Box and in four lens colors.

Design and hardware

The T1 has two parts: the glasses, which handle display and audio, and a separate T-Box unit that supplies power, wireless screen mirroring and controls. A USB-C cable connects them. The glasses weigh 79 g. In the 93913 review, the temples are made of a nylon material with a custom curve and fold outward by about 15 degrees to fit different head sizes. The glasses also have elastic nose pads and silicone pads at the ends of the temples. An opaque shade and tinted sunglass lenses attach to the front magnetically; the tinted lenses come in four colors. TQSKY says the coated lenses stop people nearby from seeing what is playing on the displays.

Display and optics

Each eye has a 1920 x 1080 display. TQSKY lists 3,500 pixels per inch, 1,800 nits brightness, a 60 Hz refresh rate, a 1 ms response time and a 43-degree field of view. The 93913 review describes the panels as Micro-OLED. The optics are a birdbath design; Wang Jie said TQSKY chose birdbath because, in her view, only birdbath and monochrome waveguides were mature enough for sustainable, cost-controlled mass production. TQSKY also claims a 100,000:1 contrast ratio and 107% sRGB color gamut coverage. TQSKY states that the image is equivalent to a 150-inch screen viewed from 3.5 meters. GeekPark's launch article described the same 150-inch screen as viewed from 5 meters.

Two diopter adjustment dials above the lenses let users with up to 600 degrees of myopia per eye (0.00 to -6.00D) see a sharp image without wearing their own glasses. Volume buttons sit on the left temple and brightness buttons on the right, with 10 brightness levels. According to 93913, the T1 holds TÜV Rheinland low blue light and flicker-free certifications.

Audio

The T1 uses stereo full-range speakers with a frequency response of 20-20,000 Hz, 100 dB sensitivity and 0.8 W per ear. TQSKY describes a "cyclonic" sound chamber design and directional sound transmission intended to reduce sound leakage to people nearby. TQSKY promoted the T1 as the only smart glasses with Hi-Res Audio certification.

T-Box

The T-Box is a portable box of under 230 g. TQSKY lists an ARM Cortex-A7 dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, 128 MB of DDR memory, 1920 x 1080 at 60 fps video decoding and output over USB-C, dual-band Wi-Fi 5, a 5,000 mAh battery and support for AirPlay, Miracast and DLNA screen mirroring. The 93913 review gives the T-Box's battery life as about four hours, and noted a DisplayPort video output and a USB-C charging port with two-way charging. Devices that output video over DisplayPort through USB-C can connect to the glasses directly with a cable. Screen mirroring uses the T-Box's wireless network as a relay, while network casting needs the phone and T-Box on the same Wi-Fi network.

Software and features

The T1 cannot play video on its own and works as an external display for other devices. TQSKY lists compatibility with phones, tablets, drones and game consoles including the Xbox Series X and Series S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Notebookcheck noted that computers can also be used as a source, and a February 2023 TQSKY press release also listed laptops. The Kickstarter page also advertised Steam Deck support and remote play from PlayStation, Xbox and PC. Through the T-Box, video mirrored from a phone rotates automatically to match portrait or landscape content, and video keeps playing when the source device's brightness is turned down or its screen is switched off.

Reception

Notebookcheck described the T1's design, as shown in the Kickstarter presentation, as fairly understated, though it said the wide temples still mark it as a gadget. In its March 2023 review, 93913 praised the wearing comfort, privacy features and eye-comfort certifications. It criticized the lack of built-in content and the T-Box's four-hour battery life.
