Super Island God VR is a god game for SteamVR headsets such as the HTC Vive, developed and published by Empyrean Interactive for Windows. It combines simulation and strategy elements and is marked "VR Only" on Steam.[1] The game entered Early Access on 14 November 2016, and its Steam listing gives a full release date of 16 May 2019.[1][2] It is still sold on Steam for US$9.99, and a listing for it also appears on Meta's store for PC VR.[3][4]
Overview
The player takes the role of the deity of an island tribe, directing villagers through a series of levels set on separate islands. The Steam page lists building and growing a village with different villager jobs, casting miracles that help or punish the villagers, hidden objectives, time attack modes, hidden toys and unlockable cosmetic hands.[1] Steam describes six islands at the start of Early Access, while the Meta listing refers to nine.[1][4]
Updates during Early Access added a desert island and a holiday event in version 0.2.0 (December 2016), and a teleport-to-move option and a revised movement system in version 0.3 (July 2017).[5][6] In May 2019 the developer announced that "new management" at Empyrean Interactive was reviving the game.[7] The release that took the game out of Early Access, announced on 17 May 2019, added a final desert island level, a "Restore" spell that heals buildings and villagers, building health bars and a player height slider.[8]
