SourVR Video Player is a free Windows video player for watching 2D, 180-degree and 360-degree video in a virtual reality headset. It was developed and published by River Twice Co., Ltd. and released on Steam on 21 November 2016.^[1] It supports the HTC Vive, the Oculus Rift and OpenVR headsets.^[1] A paid Deluxe Edition was listed separately on Steam on 5 April 2017.^[2]

Overview

The player plays video files from a local library and lets the user browse those files while wearing the headset. Steam lists support for 2D, 180, 360, over-under and side-by-side video, and states that the player detects the video format automatically and memorizes the format setting. The projected screen size can be adjusted, and playback can be controlled with Vive controllers, an Oculus remote, or a keyboard and mouse.^[1]

The Steam page lists a range of supported file formats, including .mp4, .avi, .mov, .wmv and .mpg. According to the same page, YouTube playback and an online video content aggregation feature, updated weekly, are available only in the Deluxe Edition.^[1]^[2]
