Smash Party VR (also titled Smash Party) is a free destruction party game for the HTC Vive, played with tracked motion controllers in SteamVR. It was developed by Viacom NEXT together with the animation studio Titmouse, and Viacom NEXT is listed as its developer and publisher on Steam.[1] It was released as an Early Access title on 18 December 2016.[1] The game is based on Titmouse's annual in-person Smash Party event, in which attendees destroy real objects inside a cage.[2] As of October 2026 the Steam page still lists it as free and in Early Access.[1]

Reviewed 9 October 2026. Checked the Steam listing (app 568690), the Animation World Network announcement and the UploadVR article against the added statements. About review dates.

Overview

Players break objects such as toilets, plates and televisions in front of a simulated cheering crowd, and a high-score system ranks the amount of damage caused.[1] At the game's announcement, the developers said it recreated the real-life experience of smashing things with a baseball bat, and coverage listed TVs, vases and toilet bowls among the objects.[2][3] Steam lists the game as single-player, VR only, with tracked controller support and a room-scale play area of at least 2.1 m by 2.1 m.[1]

The developers described the Early Access build as a complete experience with a limited number of smashable objects.[1] The Steam page also carries a warning that players should clear breakable items from their space before playing.[1]

Reception

Steam user reviews were rated Very Positive as of October 2026, with 88% of 53 reviews positive.[1]
