Skeet: VR Target Shooting is a free-to-play VR shooting simulation game developed by Flatbox Studios and published by Flatbox Studios LLC. It was released on Steam on April 5, 2016, for Windows and was built for the HTC Vive and SteamVR.[1] A later update added support for the Oculus Rift.[2] As of October 2026 the game is still listed on Steam at no cost.[3]

Reviewed 9 October 2026. Checked title, developer, publisher, release date, price, features, requirements and review summary against the Steam page and API, and the Oculus Rift support details against the developer's Steam forum thread About review dates.

Overview

The player shoots clay targets with a shotgun in a virtual shooting range. The game has three modes: Skeet, Trap and Quickdraw. Steam describes Skeet as played on a range with proper rules, Trap as having arcade-style gameplay, and Quickdraw as the third mode. Three shotguns are available: Over Under, Side By Side and Pump Action. Scores are tracked on Steam leaderboards.[1][3]

The Steam listing requires tracked motion controllers and marks the game as VR only and single-player. The listed system requirements name SteamVR or Oculus PC as the VR runtime. Steam also lists achievements, trading cards and Family Sharing.[3] In a pinned support thread from January 1, 2017, the developer wrote that "Skeet Patch 2.0" added Oculus Rift support. The update auto-detects the connected headset and starts the game in either SteamVR or Oculus mode, and the launch options "-OpenVR" and "-Oculus" can force one of them. Some users reported launch and tracking problems after the update, and in a January 25, 2017 reply in the same thread the developer said an official Oculus store release was close.[2]

Reception

Steam user reviews were rated Mostly Positive as of October 2026, with 137 of 178 reviews positive.[4]
