ShotForge is a free VR App and gun-building sandbox for Windows, played through SteamVR with tracked motion controllers. It was developed and published by Alix and released on Steam on 2 November 2016.[1] Steam lists the game as VR-only, in the Indie and Simulation genres, and describes it as a sandbox for building guns.[1]

Overview

The player assembles firearms from modular weapon parts, snapping components together to build a weapon, then converts the assembly into a usable gun and fires it. The developer's Steam description compares the idea to customizing a gun in VR.[1]

Controls follow the tracked controllers' trigger, grip, menu and touchpad inputs. The trigger grabs outlined objects, selects menu items and fires a held gun; the grip drops held objects and opens a properties menu when used beside a gun part. The touchpad changes component properties such as rate of fire and magazine size, operates functions such as laser sights, and handles reloading and ejecting magazines.[1]

Reception

Steam user reviews were rated "Mostly Positive" as of October 2026, with 62 of 82 reviews positive.[2]
