SculptrVR is a voxel-based world-building and sculpting application for virtual reality, developed by Nathan Rowe and published by SculptrVR. It was released on Steam for Windows on April 4, 2016, with support for the HTC Vive through SteamVR.[1] Engadget reported in June 2018 that it had also been available on the Oculus Rift and Google Daydream and was coming to PlayStation VR on June 19, 2018.[2] The Steam version remained on sale at US$19.99 as of October 2026.[1]

Reviewed 9 October 2026. Checked developer, publisher, release date, price, features and review rating against the Steam listing (app 418520), plus the Engadget and UploadVR claims. About review dates.

Overview

Players build with tracked motion controllers in a voxel environment that supports zooming across a very wide range of scales, which Steam lists as 10,000x. According to the store page, the same world can contain large landscapes and small details, and it includes procedurally generated landscapes and underground digging. Finished creations can be exported in FBX or OBJ formats for 3D printing or sharing online, and the store page describes a content gallery where players can upload worlds and remix those made by others.[1] Engadget described the app as a way to draw in 3D space while the software handles perspective and shading, and quoted founder Nathan Rowe on building a mountain with details such as farmhouses and flowers visible only on zooming in.[2]

Several players can share a world online. UploadVR reported in June 2016 that multiplayer had entered a beta branch of the Steam version, with players' heads and hands visible to each other, and that a house built by the reviewer and a friend was exported as a 3D object for printing.[3] The Steam listing also includes online co-op and a game mode where players race with hang-gliders or switch to climbing.[1]

Reception

Steam user reviews were rated Very Positive as of October 2026.[1]
