P&C Solution METALENSE is an augmented reality head-mounted display whose launch was announced in 2022. It was developed and manufactured by P&C Solution, a South Korean company that makes AR glasses and XR simulators.[4][1] The binocular glasses show AR content on transparent lenses in front of the wearer's eyes and run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 chip.[5][3]

P&C Solution markets METALENSE for industrial use, in particular AR-based remote work collaboration, and has named manufacturing, construction, logistics and military defense as target fields.[6] P&C Solution announced the glasses' launch at the Korea Electronics Show (KES) 2022 in Seoul for 4 October 2022. METALENSE received a KES 2022 Innovation Award and was named a CES 2023 Innovation Awards honoree in the Virtual & Augmented Reality category.[1][6] P&C Solution announced a successor, METALENSE 2, ahead of CES 2024.[7]

Reviewed 16 October 2026. Manufacturer specifications, launch history, software, applications and model distinctions checked. The field-of-view axis and first-generation refresh rate remain unverified. About review dates.

History

Background

P&C Solution was founded in 2015 and started out developing XR simulators. According to the company, it released its first XR glasses in 2018 and began its XR glasses business in earnest in 2020.[4] Its company history lists the registration of the "METALENSE" and "ARIS" XR glasses trademarks in 2022.[4]

Launch

In late September 2022, Money Today reported that P&C Solution would release METALENSE in South Korea and in overseas markets at the same time, at KES 2022, held at COEX in Seoul from 4 to 7 October 2022. The report described METALENSE as an upgrade of the company's earlier AR glasses, with improved optical components and an updated AR engine.[8] P&C Solution's announcement said the lenses were designed for high resolution and clarity, and that the company would demonstrate a remote cooperation solution and AR drawing on the glasses at the show. The company also said the product could be customized for different industries.[1]

Awards

METALENSE received a KES 2022 Innovation Award in the convergence new technology (융합신기술) category.[5][1] In a press release dated 17 November 2022, P&C Solution announced that METALENSE had been named a CES 2023 Innovation Awards honoree in the Virtual & Augmented Reality category. The company, headed by CEO Chi Won Choi, said the selection recognized the technology and marketability of METALENSE and of METAWIN, its XR smart factory solution. It described METALENSE as having improved optical performance and a self-developed AR engine.[6] P&C Solution exhibited METALENSE at CES 2023 in Las Vegas in January 2023.[9] Both awards appear in the company's official history for 2022 and 2023.[4]

Design and hardware

METALENSE has a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 system-on-chip with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash storage. Its Micro-OLED display has a combined resolution of 3,840 x 1080 pixels, which P&C Solution describes as a 1920 x 1080 FHD picture.[3] The KES 2022 Innovation Awards entry describes the display as 2K resolution.[5] The headset has stereo cameras for six degrees of freedom (6DoF) tracking, an 8-megapixel RGB camera and a set of motion and environment sensors. P&C Solution says it uses its own sensor-driving technology to recognize the wearer's movements and the surrounding environment.[3]

P&C Solution's seller listing on buyKOREA describes METALENSE as a standalone device with a 40° field of view, without identifying its axis. It lists Android 10.0, a weight of 580 g and battery life of three hours or more. These are manufacturer specifications and estimates.[2]

Software and features

METALENSE runs Android, which P&C Solution says allows it to work with a range of existing applications.[10] The company's own AR engine anchors content in space using Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM).[10] The KES 2022 awards entry says the AR engine performs real-time location estimation and precision mapping, and that the glasses use edge AI for recognition.[5]

The wearer controls the device with hand gestures and voice.[3] P&C Solution lists four in-house AI recognition functions (gesture, voice, object and space) and says they work both online and offline.[10] For developers, the company provides the MetaCore SDK. It includes a Unity plugin, a hand gesture control API, a voice recognition API based on a command dictionary and speech-to-text, and an object recognition API that shows content on objects after the system has been trained to recognize them.[10]

Applications

P&C Solution markets METALENSE for enterprise augmented reality work, in particular remote collaboration, which the company says is meant to increase work efficiency and accuracy and reduce risk.[6] According to a 2026 Seoul Economic Daily report, companies that use the METALENSE series in manufacturing and maintenance use it as an AI-based remote collaboration tool: an on-site worker wearing the glasses can talk in real time with a distant manager or expert while viewing manuals, drawings or checklists on the lens with both hands free.[11] On its product site, the company describes these uses:[10]

  • Manufacturing and engineering: viewing parts and the user manual at the same time to reduce mistakes.
  • Construction: passing on inspection results and instructions as visual information.
  • Logistics: using built-in indoor navigation to find locations, and scanning products to check stock information.
  • Healthcare: projecting a patient's previously captured CT data onto the patient's face so that dental nerves can be checked during a procedure.

P&C Solution's CES 2023 announcement said that the range of uses for METALENSE could be expanded to the medical sector in addition to its industrial fields.[6]

Successor

P&C Solution announced plans to show METALENSE 2 at CES 2024, held in Las Vegas from 9 to 12 January 2024.[7][9] The Electronic Times reported that the new model uses plastic lenses with P&C Solution's geometric optical design, which the company said improved light efficiency and outside light transmission compared with diffractive optical designs. The report also said its dual OLED displays support QHD resolution for a sharper image than the earlier model, that the device supports XR as well as AR, and that it runs on standard rechargeable batteries to extend continuous use.[7] P&C Solution's METALENSE 2 page lists a resolution of 2560 x 1440 per eye and a 45° diagonal field of view, and says the resolution is higher than the previous model's.[12]

In June 2026, the Seoul Economic Daily reported that METALENSE glasses were used by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Hanwha and LIG D&A in South Korea, and that P&C Solution had supplied them to the Saudi Arabian state energy company Aramco and the Singaporean defense company ST Engineering. In the same interview, Choi said the company had sold about 200 to 300 units a year through 2025 and that sales of more than 1,000 units were possible in 2026. The newspaper also reported that P&C Solution planned to release a lighter model, tentatively called METALENSE Air, in the second half of 2026, weighing 115 g compared with 620 g for METALENSE 2 while keeping about 95% of its performance.[11] As of October 2026, P&C Solution's website still lists METALENSE alongside METALENSE 2 in its AR glasses lineup.[13]
