Octopus Bar is a free-to-play virtual reality game for Windows, released in Early Access on Steam on 4 September 2017. It was developed by Thomas Meduri and published by VRNOVO, and it supports HTC Vive and Oculus Rift headsets through SteamVR and Oculus PC with tracked controllers. As of October 2026 the game is still listed as Early Access, and Steam notes that the developers' last update was over nine years ago. The developers had estimated a full release by mid 2018.

Overview

The game is set in a hidden izakaya bar in a forest, where an octopus character gives the player a series of short tasks. According to the Steam listing, these include catching a chicken, feeding it to a frog, shooting balloon fish with a crossbow, finding hidden "teru teru bozu" ghosts and releasing a dragon.

The Early Access build contains a single world with several interactions. Its developers describe the difficulty as very low and the design as aimed at people new to VR, with a single button (the trigger) used for interaction. The game uses Valve's The Lab Renderer for lighting. Steam lists a room-scale play area of 2.5 m by 2.1 m.
