Neverout is a first-person puzzle VR App for SteamVR on Windows, with support for HTC Vive and tracked motion controllers. UploadVR coverage in 2016 and 2017 credits the developer Setapp, and the game reached Steam on May 18, 2017.[1][2] It began as a Gear VR game, and Setapp announced Rift, Vive and PlayStation VR versions in 2016.[3] Steam lists Gamedust as both developer and publisher of the current listing.[1]

Reviewed 9 October 2026. Checked title, developer, publisher, release date, Steam review totals and the cited UploadVR coverage against the Steam listing and both articles About review dates.

Overview

Each level places the player in a cube-shaped room with a single exit. The player can walk onto any surface of the room, which then becomes the floor and shifts gravity, and movement proceeds one step at a time on a grid.[2] Hazards described in the press include moving blocks and electric fences, and the Steam page also mentions traps.[3][1] The game has more than 60 levels in four zones, according to its Steam listing.[1]

For comfort, the game offers two movement modes: Immersive, and Comfort, which adds a blue line showing the next step and moves the player between surfaces through portals.[2] The Steam listing says the game can be played with or without a VR headset and has a compact play area.[1]

Reception

UploadVR described the Gear VR version as one of that platform's best games and the puzzle design as rewarding and sometimes dizzying.[2] Steam user reviews were rated Mixed as of October 2026, with 156 of 243 reviews positive.[1]
