The Meta Adventurer is a model of smart glasses developed by Meta Platforms and manufactured in partnership with EssilorLuxottica. It is one of the launch models in the Meta Glasses line, Meta's first self-branded family of AI glasses, which was announced on June 23, 2026 and dropped the Ray-Ban co-branding used by earlier Meta eyewear.[1][2] The Adventurer is the standard rectangular model, described by Meta as "a clean rectangle shape for a timeless, versatile look," and is sold in Standard and Large sizes at a starting price of $299.[3][2]
Like the rest of the line, the Adventurer has no visual display and does not overlay digital content onto the wearer's view. Instead it pairs an integrated camera, open-ear speakers, and a microphone array with the Meta AI assistant for hands-free photo and video capture, audio playback, calls, live translation, and voice-driven assistance.[3] It shares its core hardware with the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) but sells for $80 less by removing the eyewear-brand licensing premium, making it one of Meta's cheapest camera glasses at launch.[4] The Adventurer launched alongside the boxier Meta Fury, which is also priced at $299, and the $399 Meta Starfire, a slim oval frame co-designed with Kylie Jenner.[5]
Launch
Meta and EssilorLuxottica unveiled the Meta Glasses line on June 23, 2026, presenting the Adventurer, Fury, and Starfire as the first eyewear to carry Meta's own brand rather than the Ray-Ban or Oakley names used on previous generations.[1][6] EssilorLuxottica, the parent company of Ray-Ban and Oakley, continued to co-develop and manufacture the glasses even though Meta designed them and put its own name on them.[4][1] Meta positioned the $299 starting price as bringing wearable AI to a wider audience, and the Adventurer and Fury went on sale the same day in the United States and a range of other markets.[2][6]
Design
The Adventurer uses a classic rectangular frame that several reviewers compared to a slimmer Wayfarer profile, distinguishing it from the fuller, more square-cut Meta Fury.[5] It is offered in two fit options, Standard and Large.[3][2] Frame finishes include Classic Black, Classic Tortoise, Merlot, and Linen, and lens choices include clear, brown, polarized grey, and photochromic Transitions in grey, ruby, and sapphire tints.[3] Across the Adventurer and the Fury, Meta offered 26 color and lens combinations at launch, drawing on a palette that also included finishes such as Racing Green, Mahogany, and Sandstone.[4][2] The frames carry three-way adjustable nose pads, over-extension hinges, and user-adjustable temple tips for fit.[5]
The Adventurer supports prescription lenses within a total power range of -12 to +2.25, fitted through EssilorLuxottica, though the range offered directly through Meta.com is narrower at -6 to +2.25.[2] Meta also introduced an Rx Lens Swap option that lets buyers add prescription lenses to the glasses.[3]
Hardware
Rather than introduce new internals, the Adventurer reuses the core hardware platform of the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2); reviewers noted that the camera sensor, video resolution, microphone array, and battery specifications are unchanged from that model.[7][4] It carries a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera capable of 3K video capture, a five-microphone array, and open-ear speakers built into the temples for music, calls, and assistant audio.[4][7]
Meta rates the glasses for over eight hours of battery life with typical use, and the bundled foldable charging case adds up to 40 additional hours on the go.[2][4] The Adventurer is controlled through a capacitive touchpad on the temple, voice commands using the phrase "Hey Meta," and a dedicated action button that invokes Meta AI by default and can be reassigned to a chosen feature.[3][6]
Software and Meta AI

The Adventurer was among the first devices to ship with Muse Spark, a Meta AI model from Meta Superintelligence Labs that is built for Meta's own products rather than offered as a general-purpose chatbot.[1][8] Using the assistant, wearers can ask about topics ranging from sports scores to local restaurant recommendations, get help understanding what they are looking at, translate foreign-language text, and manage calendar tasks.[8] Meta said the glasses also support turn-by-turn pedestrian navigation, with the assistant speaking directions aloud since the frames have no display.[8]
At launch Meta expanded the live translation feature to 20 languages, adding 14 new ones including Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Arabic, and Hindi for spoken back-and-forth conversation.[4][8] The glasses pair with the Meta AI companion app for iOS and Android, which is used to import and edit captured media, manage settings, and update firmware, and a Meta account is required.[3]

Availability
The Adventurer became available on June 23, 2026 through Meta.com, LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, Best Buy, Amazon, and additional select retailers.[2][1] Meta listed launch markets including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Australia.[2] Meta offered the glasses outright at $299 or through monthly installments via Affirm.[3]
Reception
Coverage of the launch framed the Adventurer and Fury as a price-focused move: roughly the same camera-glasses hardware as the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) offered $80 cheaper by shedding the eyewear-brand premium, just as Meta brought its glasses under its own name.[4][6] Reporting noted that the line preserved the core Ray-Ban Meta experience, a 12-megapixel camera, 3K video, a five-microphone array, and roughly eight hours of battery life, while leading with the new Muse Spark assistant and broader translation support.[7][8]
