Manastorm: Champions of G'nar is a virtual reality card game developed and published by DaGGaSoft for Windows. It requires a SteamVR or Oculus PC headset such as the HTC Vive or Oculus Rift and tracked controllers, and is played standing or room-scale.[1] It was released in Early Access on Steam on January 3, 2017, at a price of $4.99.[1][2] As of October 2026 the Steam page still lists the game as Early Access, with the last developer update more than nine years old.[1]

Overview

The game is a single-player collectible-card-style duel. The player draws from a deck of enchanted cards each turn and has a growing pool of mana crystals. A card is played by throwing it onto the battlefield with a tracked controller, and if the player has enough mana the card's effect is cast. Cards can summon minions, add buffs or shields, or trigger hero powers such as fire and ice beams.[1] UploadVR also described shooting arrows with a bow and an alchemy system for crafting abilities, which the reviewer called underdeveloped.[2]

In its Early Access notes, DaGGaSoft said finishing the game would take thousands of development hours and funding for original artwork, and listed deck customization, more advanced AI and possible multiplayer among its plans.[1] The game was also offered on itch.io for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.[3]

Reception

UploadVR's review, published on January 11, 2017, said the game left the reviewer feeling "more like the mastermind behind a powerful army than just a player in a VR-ified card game," while noting that the blocking system and tutorials needed work.[2] Steam user reviews were rated Mixed (65 percent positive of 70 reviews) as of October 2026.[1]
