Lazerbait is a free strategy game with arcade elements for SteamVR developed and published by Taylor Stapleton.[1] It was released on Steam for Windows in October 2016 and is listed on Steam as VR only, with tracked controller support.[1] As of October 2026 it is still available on Steam at no cost.[1]

Overview

The player views a system of planets from a god-like perspective, as Steam describes it. Each owned planet produces ships over time, and the player uses the motion controllers to send fleets from planet to planet to capture more of them, which in turn increases ship production.[1] The aim is to capture every planet and eliminate the opposing players.

A match can include up to seven computer-controlled opponents in a free-for-all. Game speed, map size, ship limits, the number of opponents and their difficulty can be configured, and maps are procedurally generated for each game. Global statistics and leaderboards track the total number of ships destroyed and the number of opponents defeated at each difficulty setting.[1]

Reception

Steam user reviews were rated Overwhelmingly Positive as of October 2026, with 500 of 518 reviews positive.[2]
