The Hons VR Quest 2 Prescription Lens Adapter is a pair of custom corrective lens inserts for the Meta Quest 2 virtual reality headset, produced by the company HONSVR. The product lets users who normally wear glasses or contact lenses see clearly inside the headset without putting their eyeglasses on underneath it, removing a common point of discomfort and reducing the risk of eyeglass frames scratching the Quest 2's built-in lenses.[1][2] Each lens is ground to the buyer's individual prescription and clips into the headset using a magnetic adapter, so the lenses can be snapped on and pulled off again in seconds to share the headset with people who do not need correction.[2][3] The lenses sold at $49.95, reduced from a list price of $69.95.[1][4]
Background
The Quest 2 ships with fixed lenses and no built-in diopter adjustment, so people who are short-sighted or long-sighted must either wear contact lenses or fit their glasses inside the headset. Glasses inside a headset can press uncomfortably against the face, sit at the wrong distance for the optics, and rub against the headset's plastic lenses, which scratches them.[5] Prescription lens inserts address this by placing a thin corrective lens directly in front of the headset optics, fixed in the optimal position and clear of the user's field of view.[5]
HONSVR describes itself as a group of virtual reality enthusiasts whose primary focus is prescription VR lenses and lens adapters made individually for each customer.[6] The company lists a US Food and Drug Administration Operator Number of 10092895 on its website; reviewers have noted that orders are produced and shipped from China.[7][4] The Quest 2 adapter was one of the company's early products; HONSVR publicly promoted it through an August 2022 press release, and it was covered by hands-on reviewers and the XR press through 2022 and 2023.[8][4][6] The company later expanded into prescription lenses for a wide range of other headsets and AR glasses, including the Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest Pro, PlayStation VR2, Valve Index, Pico 4, HTC Vive, HP Reverb G2, Apple Vision Pro, and Xreal glasses, and it describes itself as an official partner of Xreal.[6][7][9]
Design and installation
The adapter is a two-part system: a plastic frame (the adapter ring) that mounts inside the headset, and the prescription lenses themselves, which attach to that frame with magnets. To fit it, the user removes the Quest 2's foam face pad, clicks the adapter into place, and then drops the lenses down onto it, where magnets hold them.[2] Because the lenses are magnetic rather than screwed or glued in, they can be lifted off and put back on quickly; reviewers highlighted that another household member can pull the lenses off and use the headset normally while the adapter stays installed.[2][3][4]
HONSVR uses a three-magnet design around each lens, which reviewers found gave a noticeably stronger and more secure hold than earlier two-magnet inserts from some competitors. A small notch in the ridge of each lens aligns it to the adapter and helps stop the lens from rotating or working loose.[2] Reviewers described the lenses as sitting close to the headset's own lenses, secure in use, and easy to take on and off.[2][3]
In the box, the lenses come pre-attached to their magnetic clip-on covers inside a small branded hard zippered carry case, along with a microfiber cleaning cloth, spare magnets for the adapters, and a thank-you card.[2][3] The case doubles as protective storage for the lenses when they are not installed.[4]
Lenses and coatings
The lenses are made to the customer's own prescription. HONSVR's order configurator supports sphere values from -15.00 to +15.00 dioptres, cylinder corrections from -8.00 to +8.00, and astigmatism axis values from 0 to 180 degrees, and also offers a plano (non-prescription) option for buyers who want the protective or filter benefits without correction.[1] A high-index lens option is available for stronger prescriptions, which keeps the lenses thin and light.[4]
Every prescription order includes a free anti-glare and scratch-resistant coating. Optional extras, available for a small additional fee, include a blue-light filter intended to reduce eye strain and fatigue during long sessions, and personalized engraving.[6][4] Coverage of the blue-light filter has not been fully consistent: HONSVR's August 2022 press release described it as built in, while later reviews and the company's own product information treat it as an optional upgrade added at the buyer's choice rather than standard on every order.[8][4]
Compatibility
Although marketed for the Quest 2, the same lenses and adapter design are listed as fitting several other Oculus and Meta headsets that share comparable optics, including the original Oculus Quest, the Oculus Rift S, the Oculus Go, and the Meta Quest 3S. HONSVR states the lenses are not compatible with the Oculus Rift CV1 or the Meta Quest 3, the latter of which uses a different optical layout and requires a dedicated lens set.[1][5]

Reception
Hands-on reviewers generally praised the adapter as an inexpensive and practical fix for one of VR's most common annoyances for glasses wearers. FULLSYNC called it a cheap, practical solution to one of VR's biggest problems and singled out the stronger three-magnet attachment as an improvement over rival inserts.[2] Jabba Reviews rated the lenses 10 out of 10, noting that they fitted perfectly, came with protective covers, and were easy to swap thanks to the magnetic mount.[4] A separate unboxing review highlighted the secure fit, the included hard case, and the low price (often around $50 on sale) as strengths, while noting that some competing products bundle more extras such as a blue-light filter or lens covers as standard.[3] UploadVR covered the product line and noted that prescription orders ship with a free anti-glare and scratch-resistant coating and that optional add-ons such as a blue-light filter are available.[6]
