The HUAWEI Eyewear 2 is Huawei smart audio eyewear with speakers in its temples for music and calls. It uses air conduction and leaves the ear canals open.[13]
Huawei announced the model in Barcelona in September 2023. Availability, frame choices and phone features differ by market.[2]
History and development
The Barcelona presentation took place on 14 September 2023. It introduced Eyewear 2 alongside the Watch GT 4 and other products; it was an announcement of upcoming devices.[2]
A German launch release dated 17 November 2023 stated that the Browline and Rectangle Half-Frame models were available that day through Huawei online and its Berlin flagship store for €299.[3]
Huawei Japan announced its versions on 17 October and confirmed their release on 24 November 2023, at ¥37,800 for Black and ¥47,800 for Titanium Silver, including tax. Its notice continued the OWNDAYS lens-service collaboration.[4]
The predecessor HUAWEI Eyewear was a separate product from the Gentle Monster collaboration: Huawei Japan describes its own Eyewear as following HUAWEI X GENTLE MONSTER Eyewear II and identifies an OWNDAYS partnership.[14]
The similarly named Gentle Monster Eyewear II uses Bluetooth 5.2, an externally powered charging case and a five-hour advertised music runtime. Those specifications and its pinch-pairing gesture do not describe Eyewear 2.[15]
Physical design
These Huawei laboratory dimensions give lens-frame width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. Weights have ±1 g tolerance and vary with lenses and manufacture.[5]
| Frame | Dimensions (mm) | Weight with clear lenses (g) | Weight without clear lenses (g) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rectangle Semi-Frame | 50-23-149 | 37.8 | 30.8 |
| Browline | 56-13-149 | 39.2 | 28.8 |
| Square Sunglasses | 54-18-149 | 43.0 | 34.8 |
| Round Eyewear | 53-21-149 | 36.6 | 30.6 |
The 4.7 g figure describes the Browline front frame excluding lenses, not complete eyewear. Titanium applies to Browline and Round frames; Rectangle combines acetate and metal.[11]
Fit and slimmer temples
Huawei describes 9.7 mm temples, 20% narrower at the widest point and 28% narrower at the tips than HUAWEI Eyewear, with adjustable silicone pads and a thinner front hinge.[11]
Huawei support lists interchangeable rear hinges for the Rectangle Semi-Frame and Browline: short (+0 mm), standard (+3 mm) and long (+9 mm). Rectangle ships with standard hinges and Browline with short hinges. The company recommends trying the fit and having adjustments performed at a service centre or eyewear store.[16]
The LFT-G00 guide warns against extended wear of the decorative demo lenses, and heating or bending the electronic arms. Prescription fitting concerns conventional lenses.[8]
Audio technology
Huawei describes an open air-conduction design with dual-diaphragm speakers, rather than bone conduction.[13]
The open design also permits environmental sounds to remain audible.[17]
The dual-coil, four-magnet design has a stated 0.7 mm loudspeaker amplitude, 40% above the previous HUAWEI Eyewear. Huawei also claims up to 30% higher maximum media volume under matching laboratory conditions.[11]
Leakage reduction and volume control
Huawei describes second-generation reverse sound field using sound-wave cancellation to reduce outward leakage. Quiet-environment detection lowers volume in lifts or meeting rooms; Huawei disables this setting by default, with activation through AI Life.[11]
Huawei China explicitly cautions that open audio inevitably leaks sound and recommends an appropriate call volume or in-ear headphones for greater privacy. Leakage reduction therefore does not guarantee that nearby people cannot hear a call.[17]
Microphones and call processing
Huawei claims a 20 mm closer microphone position, wind-resistant ducts, call-noise reduction and operation in wind up to 4.5 m/s. Results depend on environment, software and use.[11]
Call noise cancellation is supported; listening active noise cancellation is not.[5]
TechInsights identifies the LFT-G00 hardware as having a WUQI WQ7036AX Bluetooth/audio system-on-chip with memory and a separate antenna in each temple. The temples have no wired connection to each other. Its public teardown summary also identifies capacitive wear sensing and AWINIC power-management circuitry. This is a component inspection of that model, not a battery-life or sound-quality test.[7]
Battery
Huawei rates a full charge for up to 11 hours of music or nine hours of calls, with a battery capacity about 30% greater than the previous HUAWEI Eyewear and reduced power consumption. It quotes up to three hours of music after ten minutes of charging, and about 50 minutes for a full charge. The playback tests used AAC at 60% volume; the charging test used 25°C ambient temperature and a USB-C supply of at least 5 V/1 A. These are laboratory estimates.[4]
The converter charges both temples from USB-C. The guide specifies low-power mode after more than three idle minutes, ending when worn or charged. Charging while wearing is prohibited.[8]
The supplied charging converter has no built-in battery.[5]
Controls
The standard gesture controls are listed below. AI Life can assign double-tap to the phone voice assistant or change swipes to track selection. Some Huawei phones also expose gesture settings in their Bluetooth menu.[12]
| Gesture | Function |
|---|---|
| Double-tap either temple | Play/pause music or answer/end a call |
| Swipe either temple | Volume; forward increases and backward decreases |
| Hold either temple for at least two seconds | Reject an incoming call |
Pairing requires holding both outer-middle temple areas for at least four seconds while worn until a long beep, or the converter button for four seconds while charging until the indicators flash white, then selecting Eyewear 2 in the host Bluetooth menu.[8]
Connectivity
Bluetooth 5.3 supports basic pairing, media and calling with compatible phones, tablets, PCs and other Bluetooth audio devices. Huawei lists Android and iOS phones and does not restrict basic connection to its own brand.[1]
Dual connect supports two simultaneous device connections. The English-language Audio Connection Center support page describes preferred-device selection and a paired-device list in AI Life on Android, and says this management screen is unavailable on iOS. iOS users can inspect connections in system Bluetooth settings.[10]
Huawei separately documents adding Eyewear 2 to AI Life on iPhone/iPad: pair it in system Bluetooth first, then let the app scan nearby devices. Its instructions exclude manual addition and QR-code addition on iOS. The app manages features and firmware; it is not an operating system running on the glasses.[6]
The global specification limits proximity pop-up pairing to Huawei phones with EMUI 10/HarmonyOS 2 or later.[5]
Regional features
The China-market compatibility matrix lists basic audio, gestures, wear detection, firmware updates and dual Bluetooth connection across the listed Huawei, iOS and Android categories, while reserving several ecosystem features for selected Huawei systems. It also lists head controls; these must not be confused with positional tracking for an AR display. The Chinese matrix lists Audio Connection Center on iOS, unlike the English support page, so those regional documents do not establish identical app features everywhere.[9]
China support documents Xiaoyi face-to-face translation and simultaneous interpretation with a network-connected host running HarmonyOS 5.0.1.120 or later. Face-to-face mode lists 21 languages; simultaneous mode translates between Chinese and 20 others and does not support calls. Huawei says it relies on mainland Chinese cloud services and may be unavailable or slower abroad. This is a host/service-dependent audio feature, not evidence of an onboard general-purpose AI assistant.[18]
Water resistance and care
Huawei currently rates sweat and splash resistance IP54.[11] Tests use controlled laboratory conditions. Resistance deteriorates with wear; liquid damage is excluded from warranty.[5]
Huawei recommends weekly cleaning of the lenses, temples, meshes and charging contacts. Its care guide excludes ultrasonic cleaning and quick front-frame disassembly, directs users to clean charging contacts before charging and warns against immersing the case.[19]
Comparison with audio smart glasses
This comparison names the generations explicitly. Battery claims use different test conditions; case-assisted totals are identified separately. Prices are historical regional launch figures. A dash means the cited sources do not explicitly establish a value, including component absence.

Capabilities and limits
The guide depicts clear-lens audio eyewear without a camera or display, providing audio functions rather than visual AR.[8]
Available frames and services are regional. The current China page includes additional styles and sells prescription lens services separately. It describes posture reminders, but explicitly says the product is not a medical device and its monitoring results are not for diagnosis or treatment.[17]
