Overview

The story is set in the world of Mexican wrestling on the Day of the Dead. It follows the son of a famous wrestler named Jaguar, who is about to enter the ring against Lord Calavera despite having lost a leg in an earlier match. Gutierrez, who also directed the animated film The Book of Life, described it as a story about tradition passed down through generations and the legacy a person has to live up to. The Hollywood Reporter described the finished work as an eight-minute animated short.[1]

Google Spotlight Stories is part of Google ATAP and explores interactive 360-degree storytelling using real-time rendering on mobile devices and VR platforms.[4] Gutierrez said the short had to render on a phone in real time, which made the crowd scenes and lighting difficult, and that he found directing for a 360-degree VR experience closer to live theater than film.[1] The Steam listing states that a keyboard and mouse are required.[2]
