FATED: The Silent Oath is a narrative adventure VR App developed by Frima Studio and published by Frima Originals. It was released for Windows on Steam on April 28, 2016, with support for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift through SteamVR and Oculus PC, and requires a gamepad.[1] A PlayStation VR version was released on March 28, 2017, according to the review site Use A Potion.[2]

Reviewed 9 October 2026. Checked developer, publisher, release date, platforms and controller requirement on the Steam listing, Steam review counts, OpenCritic totals and the Use A Potion review. About review dates.

Overview

The game is set in a Viking-age world. Steam describes the story as that of an ordinary father and husband who must try to save his family from the destruction of the world by giants of old.[1] According to a review of the PlayStation VR version, the player character, Ulfer, is granted a new lease on life by a Valkyrie at the cost of his ability to speak, so he answers other characters with head nods and shakes.[2]

The reviewer describes the game as mainly cinematic, with segments in which the player explores the surroundings, solves puzzles, avoids hazards and, in a few action sequences, uses a bow and arrows.[2] In the PlayStation VR version, turning is limited to 45-degree steps, with no smooth-turning option found in the menus.[2] The Steam page lists the game as single-player and VR only, with full controller support.[1] The reviewer states the game can easily be completed in less than two hours.[2]

Reception

OpenCritic lists 23 reviews of the game, with a top critic average of 62.[3] Use A Potion recommended the PlayStation VR version to owners of that headset, praising its visuals and emotional story and criticizing its short length and unsatisfying ending.[2] As of October 2026, Steam user reviews were rated Mixed, with 95 of 138 reviews positive.[4]
