Evangelion: Δ Cross Reflections (styled EVANGELION: Δ CROSS REFLECTIONS) is an upcoming extended reality action-adventure game based on the 1995 anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion, developed by the South Korean studio Pixelity Inc. It uses both virtual reality and mixed reality, and the player takes the role of an original character who dreams of becoming a pilot.[1][2] It is the first part of a planned trilogy that follows the timeline of all 26 episodes of the television series; this first installment covers episodes 1 to 11.[1][2]

The game was announced in February 2025 under a license from Studio Khara and was first scheduled for 2026.[3] In August 2026 Pixelity moved the release to 2027.[2][4] As of 14 October 2026 the game has not been released, and Pixelity has not announced its platforms or an exact release date.[5] The preview build that Road to VR played in 2026 was controlled with hand tracking.[6]

Gameplay

The player is a NERV officer cadet in Tokyo-3 and the NERV headquarters, who grows through their own choices while meeting both established series characters and original ones.[7] Pixelity's title announcement describes a group of trainees with different backgrounds and hidden motives who all want to join NERV's staff, and lists battles between Evangelions and Angels, interactive elements and original characters among the planned features.[1] Pixelity's announcement describes the game's original story as woven together with key episodes of the anime, and Kotaku described the trilogy as an all-new, alternate-timeline story structured around the events of the original series rather than a VR remake.[1][5]

The game has two modes: a Story Mode and a Battle Mode, the latter set in a NERV simulation environment.[8][7] Anime News Network also reported quests and battles based on the anime's timeline and cooperative play alongside characters from the series.[2]

Controls in the preview build

Road to VR played an early build of both modes and reported that every control was done with hand gestures. Pointing a finger moves the player forward, much like pushing a thumbstick, and raising a finger upward moves them backward. In Battle Mode the player punches physically for melee attacks, shoots by holding the right palm open as if gripping an invisible rifle and curling the index finger to pull the trigger, and raises both hands to block with a shield. Fights take place along a single line, which Road to VR compared to Olympic fencing: punching forward dashes ahead and raising the left thumb dashes back. Successful moves open a slot-style menu that grants random buffs, heals or special weapons such as a throwing spear. Pixelity told the outlet that these gestures were not final and that it was still testing alternatives.[6]

Story Mode in the same build mixed cinematic scenes with interactive moments, including a mini-game in which the player shoots down Angels that are attacking the city.[6] The 42-second teaser released in September 2026 shows the player running through NERV headquarters, repairing vehicles and an Evangelion, training at a shooting range, trimming hedges with Rei Ayanami and eating cake with Asuka, though Kotaku noted that it was unclear how these scenes fit into the finished game.[5][9]

Development

Pixelity is a VR and MR game studio based in South Korea and founded in 2017.[3][10] Before this project it released the VR games Rise of the Fallen (2018), Crazyworld VR (2022) and Puttzzle (2023), according to Road to VR.[3] On 21 February 2025 Pixelity announced that it had signed an official licensing agreement with Studio Khara in Japan to make an XR game based on the TV series, and that the first installment was already in production. Road to VR noted that Evangelion had been adapted to VR before: Evangelion VR: The Throne of Souls, a four-player experience by the Bandai Namco-backed studio Project i Can, was available for a limited time at VR Zone in Shinjuku from 2017. The outlet called Pixelity's game the first official at-home game for the series.[3]

The official title and logo were revealed on 5 September 2025.[1] Pixelity said it wanted players to feel as though they truly existed within the world of Evangelion.[1] The game director is MK Choi.[8] In January 2026 the studio published a first teaser image, which UploadVR said showed a cel-shaded art style.[11]

Voice cast

The original characters are voiced by Japanese voice actors. Anime News Network listed the following cast in October 2026.[2]

Previews and release

Pixelity first aimed to release the game in 2026, with a special demo planned for the first half of that year.[1][12] On 25 August 2026 the studio announced through its official social media accounts that the release had moved from 2026 to 2027, without giving a reason.[4][2]

UploadVR reported in September 2026 that the next preview event would be held in Frankfurt, Germany, although its exact date and location had not been released.[9] Pixelity's press materials list only "various VR devices" for platforms.[14] The demos that Road to VR played ran on Meta Quest 3, and the writer wore a BHaptics TactSuit haptic vest and haptic bangles. Pixelity had not named target platforms at the time. Road to VR wrote that the first installment was "coming early next year" and that the developer assured it would be a "full" game, not a short sampler.[6]

Reception

The game had not been released or reviewed as of October 2026. In its hands-on preview, Road to VR wrote that the hand-tracked combat "actually works" and said the writer had worried that combat would resemble the quick-time events of a Mobile Suit Gundam game, but that "there is actually some meat on the bone here". The same preview called the gesture controls "quite clever and effective once you get to grips with them".[6]
