Drunk or Dead is a single-player zombie wave shooter for virtual reality, developed and published by the Belarus-based studio 4 I Lab.[1] It was released on Steam on January 10, 2017, with support for the HTC Vive and tracked motion controllers.[2] As of October 2026 the game is still sold on Steam as a VR-only title, and the listing names SteamVR or Oculus PC as supported runtimes.[3]
Overview
The player stands at a bar and fends off waves of zombies. The premise is that a virus affects only sober people, so the player drinks the alcoholic drinks placed in front of them. Drinking lowers aim accuracy but makes the zombies move more slowly and makes infection less likely, while being hit by zombies makes the player more sober. Becoming too sober lets the virus kill the player, and drinking too much causes death by alcohol poisoning. Points for each kill are higher the drunker the player is.[2] UploadVR described the game as having no locomotion, and noted that drinking blurs and doubles the player's vision, which could be uncomfortable for some players.[2]
The Steam listing says the game uses the SteamVR or Oculus PC runtime, requires a room-scale area of 2 m by 1.5 m, and has Steam Achievements and leaderboards. Its current description mentions pistols and rifles, a story told through missions, and a survival mode.[3] Two paid add-ons are listed, "Drunk or Dead - Uncensored" (released October 24, 2017) and "Drunk or Dead - On the Road" (released January 10, 2018).[4][5] Steam lists the game as supporting English (with full audio), French, German, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Russian, Japanese and Korean.[3]
