Dogfight Elite is a World War I and World War II combat flight simulator with online multiplayer, supporting SteamVR headsets such as the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift CV1 on Windows and Mac. It was developed by the Spanish studio Echoboom,[1] and UploadVR listed it among new HTC Vive releases in June 2016 at US$19.99.[2] As of October 2026 the Steam page shows a release date of 28 August 2023, lists the game as free-to-play with a subscription, and names Joaquin Grech as developer and publisher.[3]
Overview
In Dogfight Elite the player can fly a warplane, drive a tank or fight on foot as a soldier. Solo play includes training missions that lead up to dogfights against enemy aircraft, and the game also has online multiplayer.[3] The developer's site describes the game as a multiplayer airplane combat simulator that also runs on mobile devices and on Oculus Quest.[4]
The current Steam listing describes a free-to-play model in which an optional subscription provides premium aircraft, tanks, weapons, subscriber-only missions and priority server access. It lists tracked controller support, partial gamepad support and in-app purchases, and gives the VR requirement as SteamVR or OpenXR.[3]
Reception
Reviewing the game for UploadVR's weekly Vive release list in June 2016, the writer called it "not optimised for VR, or really just optimised in general" and described the environments as "painfully basic".[2] Steam user reviews were rated Mixed as of October 2026, with 49 of 78 reviews positive.[5]
