Disco Destruction is a VR arcade DJ simulation game developed and published by Subjective Software UG. It was released on Steam on 12 December 2019 for SteamVR headsets and is played with tracked motion controllers.[1][2] A review published in February 2020 also lists an Oculus Rift version.[3] The Steam listing shows the game as free to play.[1]
Overview
The player is the DJ of Ouzo 54, a disco in Miami. Customers show their mood, and the player picks vinyl records that match it and places them on turntables to keep people dancing and paying. Playing the wrong style of music angers the crowd, and silence costs the player money.[1][2][3] Earnings can be spent on better music packs, power-ups and decorative upgrades. The Steam page also lists a free-play mode without time constraints and an option to import the player's own music files.[1]
The game uses tracked motion controllers for the control deck and turntables. A controller raised above the head makes sparks, and records must be changed quickly by hand.[2] Steam lists standing and room-scale play.[1] One reviewer described the controls as including a microphone prop for talking to the crowd.[3]
Reception
Thomas Curtis of The VR Grid gave the game 7.5 out of 10 in February 2020. He praised its polish, accessibility, soundtrack and value, and criticized its limited scope, its mix of juvenile humor and swearing, and a difficulty curve that runs backwards.[3] Steam user reviews were rated "Very Positive" as of October 2026, with 91% of 62 reviews positive.[1]
