Deserving Life is a free-to-play, single-player Room-scale VR escape game for the HTC Vive, distributed through Steam. It was made by students of the Media Technology and Design program at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria (Hagenberg Campus), and its Steam page lists Lukas Paul and Gabriel Mittermair as developers.^[1] The game was released on Steam on 13 October 2017.^[1]

Overview

The player starts chained down inside an unfamiliar house and has to solve riddles to escape. According to its Steam listing, progress depends on interacting with objects and combining the resources available in each room, and the game contains up to eight separate rooms with challenges designed around the Vive's room-scale tracking.^[1]

Steam lists the game as VR only, with tracked controller support.^[1]
