Colosse (styled COLOSSE) is a narrated virtual reality storytelling experience in which a hunter crosses paths with a giant. It began as an entry to the Oculus Mobile VR Jam in 2015, was released for the Samsung Gear VR in November 2015, and reached Steam in April 2016 as a free, VR-only title requiring SteamVR.[1][2] The Steam listing names Colosse Team as developer and Fire Panda Ltd. as publisher.[1]

Reviewed 9 October 2026. Checked title, developer, publisher, release date, VR-only and controller features and review summary against the Steam listing and API, and the Gear VR, jam, award and interview statements against the cited VRFocus repost, Road to VR, Oculus and Meta posts About review dates.

Overview

Colosse has no conventional gameplay. Road to VR described it as a narrative experience in which the viewer silently watches and follows a spearfisher in arctic waters who encounters a colossal stone giant, in a stylized world.[3] The Gear VR release was reported to feature an elder narrating the story, with no character dialogue, and to center on giant spirits that the story calls the Colosse.[2] The Steam listing describes it as a real-time experience and states that the story explores fear, power and respect.[1]

The PC version is VR only and lists tracked controller support, with full controller support also marked. It is single player and requires a Windows PC with a GTX 970 or equivalent graphics card.[1] The credited team includes Nick Pittom (director and development), Joseph Chen (producer), Kevin Dart and Jasmin Lai (art and concept), Eran Hilleli (art and visual style), and David Kamp (music and audio).[1][2] Pittom later described the work as fundamentally visual, moving from a 2D illustrative style into a 3D world.[4]

Reception

Colosse won a Gold award in the Apps or Experiences category (US$50,000) of the Oculus Mobile VR Jam 2015.[5] Steam user reviews were rated Very Positive (82% of 150 reviews positive) as of October 2026.[1]
