Blueshift (formerly Brian's High Velocity Research Center) is a free, single-player VR flight game for Windows in which the player flies with handheld thrusters and wings. It was developed by Zach Tsiakalis-Brown and Raul Bravo and published by Zulubo Productions. It was released on Steam as an Early Access title on 21 December 2016 and runs through SteamVR with tracked motion controllers. The Steam page states that it requires an HTC Vive, while the itch.io prototype page lists support for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.[1][2] The game grew out of a free prototype called Brian's High Velocity Research Center, which the developer Zulubo distributed through itch.io.[2]
Overview
The player controls flight with two motion controllers. The itch.io prototype page describes the game as an experiment in free motion through handheld thrusters plus wings, set in a world of about 16 square kilometers, and the developer's comments there advise spreading the wings like a bird while using the jets at full power, with wing angle affecting vertical movement.[2] The Steam page lists gliding, tricks, jumps and skiing as activities, and the game offers several large maps to explore along with basic ramps.[1]
The Steam page states that the game is VR only, single-player and requires tracked controllers.[1] The developers said in the Early Access notes that planned additions included multiplayer modes such as aerial dogfights and races, and that the game would stay free until more features were added.[1] The Steam page notes that the developers' last update was more than nine years before October 2026.[1]
Reception
Steam user reviews were rated "Mostly Positive" as of October 2026, with 169 of 212 reviews (79 percent) positive.[3]
