BellyBots is a room-scale VR arcade shooter developed by Grumpy Company GmbH for the HTC Vive and played through SteamVR on Windows. It was released on Steam in July 2016.[1] The developer's page describes it as a room-scale reimagining of an 80s arcade action game.[2] The Steam listing now names GE-MU Systems UG as publisher, shows a full release date of 8 February 2024, and offers the game free of charge.[3]
Overview
The player fights bots in a sci-fi setting using unusually designed guns, according to Japanese coverage at launch.[1] The developer's screenshot captions indicate that the player must keep moving or the helmet takes damage, and that cosmetic extras such as a top hat and moustache appear on the space helmet.[2] The Steam page warns that the game requires a lot of movement.[3]
The game uses tracked motion controllers and requires room-scale tracking with a minimum play area of 2 m by 1.5 m. It supports English only, and lists Steam Achievements and Steam Leaderboards.[3] At launch the game cost 798 yen, with a reduced price of 638 yen during launch week.[1]
Reception
Mogura VR recorded a positive user rating from nine Steam reviews as of 30 July 2016.[1] Steam user reviews were rated Mostly Positive as of October 2026, with 78 percent of 51 reviews positive.[3]
