Abbot's Book Demo is a free VR app and narrative adventure demo for SteamVR, listed on Steam as VR-only with tracked controller support and a SteamVR requirement.[1] It was developed by The Abbot's Book, LLC and published by Blackthorn Media, LLC, and was released on 4 April 2016.[1]
The demo previews The Abbot's Book, a planned narrative VR series. Steam describes the full work as eight episodes and the demo as a small slice of the seventh.[1]
Overview
The demo is set in Vicenza, Italy, in 1680, and takes place in catacombs beneath a noble estate. According to the Steam listing, the wider story spans four generations of a family.[1]
The Steam page lists the title as single-player, with tracked controller support, and gives SteamVR as the required VR support.[1] Steam user reviews were rated Very Positive as of October 2026, based on 214 reviews.[2]
