69 Ways to Kill a Zombie is a single-player zombie shooter for virtual reality, developed by Wadup Games. It was released on Steam on June 8, 2017, as a VR-only title that uses tracked motion controllers and lists SteamVR as its VR runtime.[1] The Steam listing names Conglomerate 5 as the publisher, while a December 2017 review gave Wadup Games as both developer and publisher.[1][2] As of October 2026 the game is still sold on Steam.[1]

Reviewed 9 October 2026. Checked title, developer, publisher, release date, VR-only and controller support, weapon and map counts, and review summary against the Steam page, Steam appdetails and review data, and The VR Grid review About review dates.

Overview

The player fights endless waves of zombies on one of several maps. According to The VR Grid, zombies spawn through a boarded-up window, and weapons are either placed around the map or drawn from a randomized weapon crate.[2] The Steam listing says the game offers more than 60 weapons, among them guns, explosives, traps, swords, bows and spears, plus random power-ups, three maps, and physics-driven movement and interaction.[1]

The Steam listing describes a movement system called "LOCO", in which the player moves their hands in a walking motion to run.[1] The VR Grid lists the play area as seated, standing or room-scale, with tracked motion controllers for input.[2] The game also supports Steam Trading Cards.[1]

Reception

The VR Grid reviewed the game on an HTC Vive in December 2017 and was strongly negative, calling it a simplistic shooter with many bugs, including a missing-executable error that prevented the game from launching through Steam for some players.[2] Steam user reviews were rated Mixed as of October 2026, with 90 of 141 reviews positive.[3]
