The BOBOVR F2 is a Virtual Reality accessory manufactured by BOBOVR for the Meta Quest 2 (originally marketed as the Oculus Quest 2) standalone headset, released in 2021. It is an active air circulation facial interface: a replacement face cover that integrates a small rechargeable turbo fan to push fresh air across the user's face and the headset lenses. The system is designed to reduce lens fogging and the buildup of heat and sweat that affect the Quest 2 during long or physically demanding sessions, problems that are especially noticeable during fitness applications.[1][2]
The fan module, described by the manufacturer as the "host" or "main machine," weighs roughly 30 grams and offers two adjustable air-volume settings. On its high setting the air inside the facial interface is cycled more than 30 times per minute, which the company frames as a full exchange of air roughly every two seconds. The fan recharges over a USB Type-C connector, the same port standard used by the Quest 2 itself, and runs for about 3 to 5 hours on a full charge.[1][2][3]
Background
The Meta Quest 2 ships with a soft foam facial interface that sits between the headset and the wearer's face. Like many enclosed Standalone VR headsets, it traps warm exhaled air and body heat against the lenses, which can cause the lenses to fog up and can leave the foam damp with perspiration after active use. BOBOVR, a Chinese accessory maker focused on VR comfort products such as head straps and face covers, positioned the F2 as a direct remedy to these issues. According to the company, its team spent about six months and three design iterations refining the product, ultimately settling on a sweat-resistant leather-style cover that can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.[1]
Design
The F2 is a two-part replacement for the headset's stock facial interface. The first part is a rigid frame, or face interface, molded from ABS+PC plastic that clips onto the front of the Quest 2 in place of the original face bracket. The second part is a removable face pad made of softer PU leather wrapped over foam padding, which contacts the wearer's skin. The pad's foam is perforated with small holes so that air and moisture can pass through, and the sides of the interface are indented to channel airflow along the lenses and across the face. Nose pads at the bottom help block stray light from entering around the nose.[1][4]
The cooling element is the integrated micro turbo fan. Rather than relying on passive vents, the fan actively draws outside air into the sealed space between the face and the lenses and circulates it, which is what BOBOVR means by "active air circulation." Because the fan unit carries its own battery and control electronics, it operates independently of the headset and does not draw power from the Quest 2. A two-level switch lets the user trade airflow for quieter operation and longer runtime.[2][1]
A "Fitness" or "Upgraded" version of the F2 was also sold, sharing the same active-ventilation design and emphasizing use during VR workouts where sweat and fogging are most pronounced.[3]
Compatibility
The F2 is built specifically for the Meta Quest 2 / Oculus Quest 2 and is not advertised for other headsets. It replaces the headset's stock facial interface and is sold as a drop-in cover for that device.[2][4]

Reception
Reviews of the F2 were broadly positive about its core purpose. A September 2021 hands-on review reported that the accessory effectively addressed the Quest 2's tendencies toward sweat absorption, odor buildup, and lens fogging, and praised the cleanable PU leather cover and improved comfort.[1] Coverage and retail listings highlighted the F2 as a useful upgrade for extended play and especially for VR fitness, where heat and lens fogging are most pronounced.[2]
